Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen has been interviewed to promote the G3 tour and the full audio is available.

Phil was speaking to The Doc G Show to promote the G3 tour and new Delta Deep live album 'East Coast Live'.

Phil talked about the digital news, Delta Deep's band history, debut album, East Coast Live album, their second album, live guitar equipment, the G3 tour, the setlist/playing with Vivian, Def Leppard's 2018/2019 tour, Pyromania's 35th anniversary, his favourite guitarists/artists, Girl/Jimi Hendrix story, producing Tesla's new album, being influenced by Mutt Lange's production, his health and fitness, his tendon injury in 2013 and food.

Def Leppard's Digital/2018 Tour News

"Really busy, yeah. I know and we just had a huge Def Leppard day. You know we just went digital which was a big deal for us. You can actually stream us, download us now and you know we held out until the time was right and the time was right for us. So yeah that's great as well."

Delta Deep's Second Album

"And the second studio album, which we're started already, that'll be probably finished by the end of this year. But that's, you know, we've got one song on there that's like a gospel hard rock song. If you can imagine that. So yeah it's cool."

Release Date?

"Yeah I think that's gonna be, yeah, towards the end of the year. I gotta do it. I'll turn my bus into a studio on the Def Leppard tour. So I'll do most of it on that."

Delta Deep's Set/Playing With Vivian

"Well the other night we played LA and it was Def Leppard day. We got, Vivian Campbell came down and we done Love Bites and Hysteria. We did that in the set which was great. Well we kick off with a Jazz fusion classic. Billy Cobham off The Spectrum album, which is this crazy Jazz rock thing. We do that so it's a little bit of instrumental and then we just bring it right down and Debbi comes out and we do some like hard heavy rock blues. So yes it's really cool."

Def Leppard 2018/2019 Tour

"Yeah we're celebrating and promoting the catalogue basically 'cause all of a sudden we've released. You know we heard yesterday we had, we have two albums on the iTunes chart. We have like Hysteria's Number 3. Pyromania's Number 5. And on the rock chart we got ten albums in the Top 20. That's crazy. So you know we have to get out there and, you know, spread the word really."

Pyromania's 35th Anniversary

"Yeah, again I can't believe it's gone so fast. Last year was the 30th anniversary of Hysteria and then here we are and it's, yeah it's pretty crazy."

Producing Tesla's New Album

"Yeah that's one of the best things I've ever done actually. We done a lot of it on tour. We actually wrote our own rules as we were going along. We done all the guitars on tour. Some of the writing, but a lot of the stuff we've been getting together, it was a jigsaw puzzle and then we done the drums last. The drums and lead vocals last. It's really diverse, you know, Queen, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC and The Beatles and juggle it all together, it kinda sounds like this. It's great."
