The Mulberry Lane Show - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Delta Deep Second Album

"And we started our second studio album as well. It's amazing. It's got more recipe, you know, it's got a hard rock gospel song, really cool. So I'm loving the growth, you know, as an artist. That's what you have to do."

Def Leppard's Digital Streaming

"We've had the craziest week ever with the Def Leppard cataloue just went digital. So you can stream us, you can download us. You know the reason we held out, the time wasn't right. We felt really strong about the effort and all the blood sweat and tears we'd put into it. We didn't wanna just give it away back then and the time was right. We came up with a great compromise with our label Universal. They've been absolutely amazing and moving forward it's really super exciting. We're loving it."

Did you all agree on it?

"We've agreed on it for the last twelve years. it was just getting the right thing. Our manager Howard Kauffman, who unfortunately passed away last year, had been working on that and he'd also been training Mike Kobayashi our current manager, you know, to take the reins and take it from there and he reached a deal with the label that we all thought was great. For us right now in this day and age and we're really, really pleased and happy about it."

2018 North American Tour/Journey

"We've toured with them before in 2006, we had a great time. They're an awesome band obviously and there's similarities, you know, we both had like massive songs in the 80s that ended up being massive songs in the 2000's. You know Don't Stop Believin; and PSSOM are probably like the most popular rock songs of all time. It's really cool that we're actually getting out and doing this stuff together."

Dealing With Steve Clark's Death

"I expected it 'cause you know it was gonna end badly. You knew that, but just miss him all the time. Like always you know. I still have dreams where I get to talk to him and stuff like that which is pretty weird. But he was my best friend. It was more than that, we'd created this sound and everything. So yeah it's a fact of life, we all gotta go at some point."
