Terrie Carr - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

2018 North American Tour/Journey

"Well we always wanted to tour with Journey since we did back in 2006. It was such an amazing tour, you know, ended up even jamming with them on stage and doing stuff. And we get on great with them. So that was something we've been threatening to do and it's just this is the first time it's actually rolled around where we can actually both get the time and do it together."

"So we're really excited about that. We're just blown away by the response. You know ticket sales and that. Just screaming out the window. And a lot of people wanna see these two bands, you know, we have hits and they have tons of hits. When you put it together it's crazy."

Def Leppard's Success/Joe's Vocal Scare

"Absolutely and I'm so proud of my band. You know and my band mates and stuff. We've really worked so hard, together collectively, and it's really exciting. You know I gotta say there's something about when I step onstage with Def Leppard I have this a - feel really secure 'cause I know that it just sounds like a record. I know people go oh my god you guys must be using tapes or something. And it's like no we're the real deal. And I'm so proud of that fact that we actually get better each time we go out."

"Joe had a vocal scare a couple of years ago and the doctor said you gotta stop singing otherwise you could lose your voice. He didn't go for the operation. He just kind of got it back into shape and we had this, our vocal coach Roger Love from years ago. You know coached Joe, got his, gently warmed him up for months. And actually he sings better than he did when he was in his 20s. So that kind of enthusiasm and kind of power in the band is really inspiring to me. So I just love doing that as well. So yeah I'm having the best time ever."

Digital Streaming Deal

"Absolutely and in a nutshell we, when everyone started just going over to digital we had a loophole, our old management Q Prime said look this stuff's special. So if you change the medium you gotta get the approval of our band. You know we lost a band member. Steve Clark lost his life. Rick Allen lost his arm and we spent millions of dollars making these records and we felt that there was more value than just releasing it earlier on. So that's why we waited for the right time and we came up with a great plan with our record label Universal. And I'm really excited to be with them. They're really on the ball with this and it's a collective, you know, we're actually working it together and it's just an amazing catalogue. So again there's so much going on for us and it's all good though. It's really great."
