Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Which is coming to you on the opening night of the Def Leppard tour of Britain and Ireland from my adopted home town of Dublin. So no pressure then. But before I swap microphones we have sixty minutes of wonderful music for you this evening. Starting off with this crowd who are actually on stage in about 90 minutes. This is Cheap Trick."

Cheap Trick

"What a wonderful thing it is to be able to take one of your favourite bands of all time on tour. That who they are and that's exactly what we're doing. From their 1979 album that is the title track. It is Cheap Trick. It is the Dream Police."

Joan Jett And The Blackhearts

"Now here's another artist that we toured with about 18 years ago now. And wow does she kick butt onstage. This is Joan Jett And The Blackhearts."

"And before that Joan Jett And The Blackhearts who I first saw when she was in The Runaways at Sheffield University way back in 1976. From the album Sinner her version of the old Sweet classic AC/DC."

The Struts

"If you are a frequent listener to my show you will know I'm a huge fan of The Struts and that's their brand new album Young And Dangerous. The song One Night Only."

AC/DC

"And talking of."

"And before that we heard AC/DC. A song that Def Leppard actually used to pay when we had a little residency in a pub underneath a hotel in Sheffield called The Wapentake. A far cry from the arena that we shall be playing next Thursday. The album Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. The song Problem Child."

Slade

"Now they were a tough act to follow as Def Leppard would learn in 1980 at the Reading Festival when they were a last minute replacement for a mysteriously cancelled Ozzy Osbourne. They went on stage and basically for about 50 minutes played all Number Ones. They are Slade. And there from the album Slade which is spelt Slayde?. One of the many hits they played that day Mama Weer All Crazee Now."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock coming to you this week from Dublin, Ireland on what is the opening night of the Def Leppard British and Irish tour. It is time for a little break and when we come back, some classic Paul McCartney and Wings."

Paul McCartney And Wings

"And before that Paul McCartney And Wings from arguably his best work outside of The Beatles. The title track of the 1973 classic album Band On The Run."

Jethro Tull

"A song that was brilliantly covered by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band for their Penthouse Tapes album. But that is the original version. A bonus track these days on the get this 50th anniversary re-release of the album This Was. It is Jethro Tull with Love Story."

The Stranglers

"Right time to take cover. This is Guilford's finest. This is The Stranglers."

"And before that we heard The Stranglers from the album Black And White they've got their very own Tank."

Long John Laundry

"Imagine my surprise when I opened the album cover of that record and saw that the guitar player on that particular song is one Mr. Brian Jams ex of The Damned. And the keyboard player is Mr. Keith Wier of The Quireboys and the Down 'n' Outz. It is the brilliantly named Long John Laundry from their 2014 album Voodoo Charm. The song Pretty Thing."

The Babys

"Well we may be on the Island of Ireland for a couple of days but uit's about time to get out the Union Jacks. This is The Babys."

"And before that they came all the way from Manchester and just moved out to LA and didn't quite make it. But they made some great music. They are The Babys from the album Union Jacks, Midnight Rendezvous."

Hanoi Rocks

"Produced by one Mr. Bob Ezrin of Alice Cooper, KISS, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple fame. With lyrics by one Mr. Ian Hunter. That is Hanoi Rocks from the album Two Steps From The Move with I Can't Get It."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week on what is the opening night of the Def Leppard Hysteria & More tour of Great Britain and Ireland. If you are going to one of the shows over the next couple of weeks I wish you a great time. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time all the way from Nottingham. And I'll fill you in with any stories that may or may not occur over the next seven days."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with this. Wakefield's finest. From 1976 the album Sunburst Finish. This is Be Bop Deluxe and Blazing Apostles. Until next week see ya!."
