DEF LEPPARD Set To Announce 2019 North American Tour Dates Soon

Def Leppard 2018. By dltourhistory

Def Leppard may be about to announce some North American tour dates for 2019 according to online journalist chatter.

The 2018 tour ended in London on 18th December after 83 shows played.

Throughout this year various band members had stated the band would tour in 2019 with shows already announced in Europe.

So far 15 dates have been confirmed for June/July 2019 with most taking place at festivals. A handful of solo shows have also been announced including three support slots with Bon Jovi, one outdoor field show in Denmark and two stadiums in Germany.

The latest show announced was at Hellfest in France.

A radio station account asked Canadian journalist Mitch Lafon about any Def Leppard touring plans in North America for 2019.

His replies suggested dates in July 2019 in the "North East" and that they would be announced "real soon".

He also suggested the choice of opening band is "real interesting".

Previous 2019 Tour Talk

Phil and Vivian had mentioned the USA and Canada when talking about the 2019 shows. Phil stated that "I’ve got a feeling we will do that in the States at some point as well." when referring to the playing of the full Hysteria album.

In February 2018 Phil mentioned "Some American dates." for 2019. And in the same month suggested there would be requests to play Hysteria in the USA.

Also in February, Phil said of 2019 - "Europe, South America and some more American dates.".

In April he said "if" American wanted them back they would play there again in 2019.

Later in April he mentioned Canada for the first time with - "Next year we've got South America, Europe, Canada".

In September Phil said - "Probably more American dates." - when asked about 2019 plans.

In May Vivian referenced less touring in 2019 with - "I don't think we'll probably tour quite as heavily in 2019."

Note Jon Bon Jovi has stated that their 25th July show in Israel will end their world tour so the "interesting opener" mentioned is unlikely to be them. That and Bon Jovi are a far more successful touring act in the USA and Canada than DL and can sell out arenas and stadiums without announcing support acts until after tickets have sold out.

Of course Bon Jovi are currently listing themselves on all tour posters as "Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees" so a DL tour with the same billing might be a possibility. And "if" any other band they play with are fellow Inductees...it probably won't be fellow Brits The Cure, Roxy Music or Radiohead!.
