Show Intro

"Evening once again everybody and welcome to the Joe Elliott show right here on the fantastic Planet Rock. Which this week is coming to you all the way from Boston, Massachusetts. Just a few hours before I go onstage at Fenway Park in front of 46,000 people. Sharing the stage tonight with Journey and once again Cheap Trick. But nevermind all that nonsense, we have sixty minutes of great music which tonight does not include any bands at all from Boston. Instead let's head off for a little bit of country life. This is Roxy Music."

Roxy Music

"I've always believed that 1972 was the best year ever for music but I have to say 1973's not far off is it. That's Roxy Music from the excellent album Country Life with All I Want Is You."

Sparks

"Now here is the very very professional Sparks."

"And before that just a couple of years later 1984. The second hit single from the album Kimono My House. The band is Sparks. The song Amateur Hour."

T. Rex

"From the aforementioned year of 1972 that is the magnificent Buick Mackane. Once covered actually by Guns N' Roses. T. Rex from the album Slider."

Queen

"Right then get a load of this re-record."

"And before that Queen from Night At The Opera. What? I hear you say. Yes it's a bonus track on the re-release of A Night At The Opera. But it is 1973 song but it's the long lost 1975 re-record of their breakthrough song Keep Yourself Alive."

Argent

"Featuring of course Rod Argent once of the Zombies along with his pal Colin Blunstone. But that's the band Argent from their Anthology Collection. The massive hit single extended version of course this time Hold Your Head Up."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show all the way from Boston in Massachusetts this week. It is time for a little break and when we come back, time's making changes."

Tesla

"And before that from their Best Of collection we heard Tesla. The album is called Time's Making Changes. The song What You Give."

Neil Young & Crazy Horse

"Quite possibly my favourite ever Neil Young song. It's actually Neil Young & Crazy Horse. From his Greatest Hits collection that is Cinnamon Girl."

The Kinks

"So from down home Americana to down trodden Brit Rock sixties style. This is The Kinks."

"And before that from their Ultimate Collection we heard The Kinks with Set Me Free."

The Rolling Stones

"I have to say for all the fantastic songs that they have written over the last 54 years or so. That absolutely comes in my Top Five. It's the Jeff Bhasker remix of the song that was put on the last Greatest Hits album GRRR!. It's the song Doom And Gloom. Brilliant stuff by The Rolling Stones."

Public Image Limited

"It would appear I'm picking a lot of songs this week from Ultimate Collections and Greatest Hits. Best Ofs etc. And this next song is no different. So yes the Public Image may be rotten but the music's great."

Psychedelic Furs

Note - Planet Rock did not broadcast Joe talking about Public Image Limited or Psychedelic Furs after the songs ended. They went straight into the following part instead.

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Boston in Massachusetts on the eve of what is the third leg of this mammoth tour that Def Leppard are doing with Journey which tonight also features Cheap Trick, is about it for this week. It has been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you at exactly the same time god willing next week all the way from Tampa in Florida."

"So until then I'll leave you with this. Originally a hit in 1966 for the Bobby Fuller Four and when messers Strummer and Jones heard this on a jukebox in San Francisco. Mid 78 while they were doing overdubs on the album Give 'em Enough Rope. They thought they'd give it a go too. That my friends was a fantastic decision. This is The Clash and I Fought The Law. Until next week see ya!."
