Show Intro

"Good evening and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. This week we are in Tennessee. Yes y'all. Welcome to Nashville. The home of country music supposedly but not tonight it's a big rock and roll show in just a few hours time. It's gonna be great ans is this show. Let's get it going. Lights Out this is UFO."

UFO

"Their big breakthrough album in the US in 1977. That is the title track from the album. The band UFO. The song and the album of course Lights Out."

Lone Star

"Now if you were listening last week you may remember I mentioned the fact that Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden and Paul Chapman. Once guitarist in UFO when Michael Schenker wasn't. Came to visit us when we played Sunrise in Florida. Which is a catchment area right between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Well Paul Chapman decided he liked it so much that he drove, with his wife, four hours to the next gig to make a weekend of it. So in honour of the fact that Tonka came to visit the boys and stayed for the weekend I'm gonna play some stuff that he featured on quite heavily. The band he was in when he wasn't in UFO was this Welsh crowd called Lone Star."

"And before that Lone Star featuring Paul Tonka Chapman on guitar. Their second album Firing On All Six. The song we heard The Ballad Of Crafty Jack."

Pat Travers

"Well I couldn't leave Nicko out could I?. I'd seen him play many times live as a kid when he was in Streetwalkers. I saw him play many many times for the guy we just heard now. Pat Travers from his 1977 album, that featured Nick on drums. The album is Makin' Magic. The song Hooked On Music."

Uriah Heep

"Well askin' or rather beggin' for a little bit of sweet freedom. This is Uriah Heep."

"And before that Uriah Heep from their album Sweet Freedom and what an album it is. The song we heard Stealin'."

Bad Company

"The voice of rock. The voice of soul and blues or just the voice and what a voice. Now I mentioned last week after the sad passing of Aretha Franklin that she had in fact influenced many rock singers. There's one rock singer that would put his hand in the air and say absolutely. Paul Rodgers. Once of course of Free and then of Bad Company who we just heard from their second album Straight Shooter. The song Deal With The Preacher."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Which this week is coming to you all the way from Nashville in Tennessee. It is time for one of those little breaks. And when we come back, we're off to visit one of those fancy West Coast establishments."

The Eagles

"And before that a band who have just been certified with the biggest album of all time. 38 million copies of their Greatest Hits '71-'75. They are The Eagles and we just heard the title track from their '76 album which is at number three just behind Thriller, with 26 million sales. Can you believe that? Unbelievable stuff. Hotel California by The Eagles."

(Note - It was actually the biggest selling album of all time in the USA.)

McGuiness Flint

"Now I'm betting that if you've even ever heard that song before it's many many many years since you did. It's one of those kind of songs that was a huge hit about 1970 but barely ever got any airplay since. It is a band called McGuiness Flint. they're long since split up but out of the ashes of that band we got a duo who had huge success in the 70s and they were Gallagher and Lyle but that is McGuiness Flint with Malt And Barley Blues."

Heavy Metal Kids

"Right from the West Coast of America to the West End of London. This is the Heavy Metal Kids."

"And before that a band that opened for Alice Cooper in the mid 70s when they played in the UK. They are the Heavy Metal Kids from their album Kitsch, which was produced by one Mr. Mickie Most, the song we heard Chelsea Kids."

Alice Cooper

"Fellow Planet Rock presenter and uber nice guy Mr. Alice Cooper there from his 1971 album Killer, You Drive Me Nervous."

The Stranglers

"This is like a road trip we're going from the West End of London down to Guildford. This is The Stranglers."

"And before that from a collection called Decades Apart a 2 disc collection that's absolutely stunning. The Stranglers with one of their first ever big hits Go Buddy Go."

The Damned

"That was The Damned with New Rose who could count amongst their fans Mr. Robert Plant and Mr. Jimmy Page if you can believe that."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Nashville in Tennessee, is about it for this week. It has as always been a fantastic pleasure to bring this show to ya. I'll be back with you next week at exactly the same time all the way from Houston in Texas."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. It doesn't get any better than this. AC/DC from the album Let There Be Rock and Dog Eat Dog . Till next week see ya!."
