Joe Elliott 2018. By Chele Drappel

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott hosted another edition of his weekly radio show last night on Planet Rock.

This week's show included songs by Queen, The Psychedelic Furs and Def Leppard.

Joe played a live track newly mixed from the 25th March show at London's Royal Albert Hall show.

Show Intro

"Aye aye, welcome once again. It is that time of the night. What else is it but the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. We have in my humble opinion what I like to think is about sixty minutes worth of fantastic music. We are never far away from a great song. In fact you could say we're only about two steps away from this one."

Hanoi Rocks

"Produced by Bob Ezrin. Songwriting contributions from the likes of Ian Hunter. From 1984 that is Hanoi Rocks. The album is Two Steps From The Move. The song their version of the old Creedence Clearwater Revival classic Up Around the Bend."

The Pretty Reckless

"Now then feel like getting pretty reckless?. So do I."

"And before that we heard The Pretty Reckless from their album Light Me Up with Since You're Gone."

The Dead Daisies

"They're out on the road round the UK at the moment. They are The Dead Daisies and from a few years ago the album Revolution. We just heard their version of a song made very famous actually by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. The song is called Midnight Moses."

Man

"So a friend of mine sent me an article the other day about this thing called Engine Man. Which is touring Great Britain right now. It's the largest mechanical puppet ever made in the UK. And it was visiting Wales. And he made this, let's call it a connection shall we. It was man, engine man. It was in Wales. There was a band called Man from Wales who had an album called Welsh Connection. How could I resist?."

"And before that we heard Man. And I do apologise for my intro for that one. From the album Welsh Connection back in 1977 and the song The Ride And The View."

The Babys

"Echoes of Bad Company on that track. I do believe it's down to the string arrangement being very similar to something that Bad Company did on the Run With The Pack album. But that is a band called The Babys from an album called Broken Hearts. The song is A Piece Of The Action."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break and when we come back, well even in the quietest moments this band can go on for a bit."

Supertramp

"And before that Supertramp. All ten minutes and 52 second of it. From the album Even In The Quietest Moments we heard Fool's Overture."

Queen

"Showing their versatility like only they can. This is the same band that only a year earlier did things like Now I'm Here and Brighton Rock. That is Queen from 1975 the album Night At The Opera. The song, fantastic stuff, Seaside Rendezvous."

Tyrannosaurus Rex

"Now this next song has got a really weird title and it comes from an album that's got a really weird title. And the band themselves don't sound too normal. They are Tyrannosaurus Rex."

"Before that Tyrannosaurus Rex from an album called, get ready for this, Prophets, Seers And Sages For The Angels Of The Ages. And the song was the more simplistic Salamanda Palaganda."

Def Leppard

"From just a couple of weeks ago. Actually the 25th of March his year that is the mighty Leps from the Albert Hall. Yes a couple of songs got released. It may actually come out full format in a few year's time, who knows. The song Man Enough."

The Tubes

"Right then from acoustic hippies to synthesizer kings. This is The Tubes."

"And before that The Tubes. Brilliant stuff produced by Todd Rundgren. The album Remote Control. The song TV Is King."

The Psychedelic Furs

"Saw them live last year and they were absolutely magnificent. Believe it or not first time I've ever seen them lie and I've owned every album since the day that they came out. They are just brilliant. They are The Psychedelic Furs from their album Talk Talk Talk. That is the wonderful and magnificent bit of work called Pretty In Pink."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It has been as always a great pleasure. I shall be back with you god willing next week at exactly the same time."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with the fantastic E.L.O. and I am gonna dedicate this song to a very wonderful lady called Liz Barnes who sadly leaves Planet Rock this week. I have worked with Liz for the last seven years. It has been a real pleasure Liz and I wish you much success on all your future endeavours. So until next week this is E.L.O. from the album Face The Music. The song is called Poker. People and Liz, See ya!."
