1 Year Ago The DEF LEPPARD EP Reissued For Record Store Day 2017

The Def Leppard EP 2017.

The Def Leppard E.P. was reissued as a 12 Inch for Record Store Day one year ago on this day in 2017.

The Record Store Day 2017 version was an exact replica of the original 1979 The Def Leppard E.P.

Record Store Day celebrated its tenth anniversary on the same day.

The 2017 version contains the original front and back sleeves in 12" form plus the red label and insert lyric sheet which was included with the first 500 copies of the original January 1979 version.

The first three songs of the band's career are included and have been remastered especially for this release - 'Ride Into the Sun', 'Getcha Rocks Off' and 'The Overture'.

The UK price for the new EP is £11.99 and is limited to only 700 or 1,000 copies.

Any copies left after today will be sold online from 29th April onwards by various stores.

The second time Def Leppard have taken part if Record Store Day after the picture disc version of the current album was issued in April 2016 in the UK and Germany.

The UK Record Store Day site revealed that the release would "kicks off a series of re-issues from the band.".

The Def Leppard E.P. 2017 - UK Press Release

UMC/Mercury are pleased to announce the release of "The Def Leppard EP" in conjunction with Record Store Day 2017. This release marks the start of a series of catalogue releases over the next few years for Def Leppard.

22nd April 2017 will see the band release their original first EP with replica art and picture cover. This is a 12" version of the EP playing at 45rpm - a one off special for Record Store day and the first time it will be available in that format. The release is fully supported by the band. Track listing is as follows:

The EP was originally recorded in November 1978 at Fairview studios in Hull and self-produced by the band. Released in January 1979 through the bands own Bludgeon Riffola label, this was the EP that launched one of the most successful and critically acclaimed rock bands of all time.

Def Leppard continues to release new music, most recently with their self titled studio album that was released to widespread critical acclaim in late 2015. The band also recently hit #1 with their live concert DVD, "And There Will Be A Next Timeā€¦Live From Detroit," released in February 2017.

The very first EP released by Def Leppard, originally printed, glued and assembled by Joe Elliott and his mother in 1976 and sold by the band at their first shows. The EP has not been available on vinyl since a 1989 UK fan club reissue, its newly remastered and released for the first time on a 45 RPM 12" for Record Store Day 2017.
