Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week it is coming to you from, well it doesn't really matter where it's coming from because we are done D. O. N. E. We are finished for the year 2017 back out on the road however next year. Until then plenty of studio work on the horizon. But not just yet, we have sixty minutes of fantastic music for ya tonight. Starting off with 1979 brought right into the year 2017. A brand new remix. This is David Bowie."

David Bowie

"Neither David Bowie or Tony Visconti were particularly pleased with the finished mix of the original version of Lodger when it came out in 1979. They thought it was a little too muddy. Well during the downtime periods, and there were of them apparently during the Blackstar album recording sessions. Which was David's last album a couple of years ago. Tony Visconti decided to remix some of the tracks and he played them to David Bowie who really, really liked what he was doing. Gave him the thumbs up to finish the project. Which sadly David never heard because he passed away before Tony finished it, but there we have it. It's now out. The 2017 remix of the album Lodger. It's part of a box set called A New Career In A New Town. The song we just heard Look Back In Anger."

The Warning

"So just returning back to the tour for just a brief period of time here. We finished the tour on Saturday last week in a place called Monterrey in Mexico. Great bill. Ourselves, Alice Cooper, Vince Neil, Tesla and a great little Monterrey band called The Warning. And let me warn you, these are three girls. Three sisters 17, 16 and 14. Check this out."

"And before that yes, they are that young. 14, 16 and 17. Three sisters. What a noise they make. And that's their debut album. It's called XXI Century Blood. That is the title track. They are called The Warning. Keep an eye out for those ladies, they are pretty good."

Motley Crue

"Without a doubt it is my favourite Motley Crue song and when I told that to Nikki Sixx he did look at me as though I had three heads. But in fairness there was a kind of a glint in his eye because I was coming from left field a little bit and it is a bit wacky for Motley Crue, but it's a great song. From the album Generation Swine that is Glitter. Played that because Vince Neil was on the bill with us in Monterrey."

British Lions

"Now when you have friends in high places and they have milestone birthdays and they're throwing parties and they invite you but they're in London and you're in Mexico. You know you can't attend, sadly. But however, what do you do in these circumstances?. You send out video messages. Well last week I had to send out two for milestone birthdays. So we're gonna celebrate them right now. In three minutes time Mr. Brian Johnson. But right now Happy Birthday John Fiddler."

"And before that from their debut album in 1977 we heard the British Lions, featuring the follow birthday boy John Fiddler with One More Chance To Run."

Geordie

"Yes all you younger generation AC/DC fans may not be aware of the fact that Brian Johnson actually had a career and a life before he joined AC/DC in 1980 for the Back In Black album. In fact he was in a band from Newcastle called , believe it or not, Geordie way back in the early 70s. And they had a bunch if hit singles in the UK. That being one of them. The song is called All Because Of You."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show right here on Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back. We're gonna share some crazy love with Mick Ronson."

Mick Ronson

"And before that Mick Ronson from one of his many posthumous albums. It's an album called Hard life. It was destined for the official posthumous album Heaven And Hull until contractual obligations dictated otherwise. But then eventually 10, 15 years later, it finally came out. Go figure. The song, great bit of work, is called Crazy Love."

Crosby Stills Nash and Young

"I first bought it on vinyl when I was about ten years old. I then went out and bought a cassette of it. Later on a CD. Eventually an MP3 download. So I believe the only format I never had was 8-Track. That's how much I love that album. It is Déjà Vu from Crosby Stills Nash and Young. And that is a Neil Young song called Almost Cut My Hair."

Punishment Of Luxury

"Now here's a couple of songs that tell the cautious tale of what happens if you let somebody else pull your strings."

"And before that Punishment Of Luxury. A song that I used to hear day in, day out at The Limit club in Sheffield back in the late 70s. From an album called Laughing Academy we heard Puppet Life."

Down 'n' Outz

"Ah did you see what I did there?. You know sometimes you just have to dig deep into the core of your inner Alan Partridge and throw together two songs that are just so comically attached. And there the Down 'n' Outz from the second album The Further Adventures Of we heard the song Marionette. Originally on the Hoople album from 1974."

The Wildhearts - TV Tan

"I was very saddened to read this week about some pretty hardcore personal issues that Ginger Wildheart has been dealing with recently. Well, I would just like to say with much love and tons of respect that I hope you pull through and I hope that you can carry on to entertain us for many, many years to come like you always have. Like you did with this."

And before that The Wildhearts from the album Earth vs the Wildhearts. Playing that and it's going out to Ginger. The song TV Tan.

Be Bop Deluxe

"I don't think I will ever forget the first time I saw Be Bop Deluxe at the Sheffield City Hall back in 1976. Emerging out of the dry ice, which was inside a big glass tube, was a white suited Bill Nelson holding his guitar aloft. Holding and ringing the life out of this one note which was the beginning of a song called Fair Exchange. It was one of the best bits of theatre that I think I've ever seen in a rock show. And there he is from 1976. The album Sunburst Finish. The band Be Bop Deluxe. The song we just heard Blazing Apostles."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time."

"Until then let's raise some hell with this crowd. Who else, it's Sweet and Hell Raiser. Till next week see ya!."
