Show Intro

"Greetings fellow earthlings and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is this week coming to you from San Antonio in Texas where in just a few short hours we shall be headlining the River City Rock Fest. It's gonna be a great time. So is this show. Let's get it started with those demons and wizards themselves Uriah Heep."

Uriah Heep

"Brewing up their own special kind of magic right there from 1972. The album Demons And Wizards. The band Uriah Heep. The song we just heard Easy Livin'."

Pat Travers

"And talking of making magic. Who else, Pat Travers."

"And before that Pat Travers from 1977. His second album which featured Nicko McBrain on the drums. The album Makin' Magic, the song Rock 'N' Roll Susie."

Van Halen

"And indeed the cradle did rock. It's such a shame that the wheels came off, but you never know down the road. It's kind of inevitable that one day. Well let's at least say, hopefully one day, you're gonna see Van Halen reunited with either David Lee Roth once again or even Sammy Hagar. But there the David Lee Roth line-up of Van Halen from the album Women And Children First with the song And The Cradle Will Rock...."

Steely Dan

"Right I'm gonna dedicate this next song to my good friend Mr. Warwick whose so busy with his Black Star Riders and his solo career that he doesn't call, he doesn't write. This is Steely Dan."

"And before that from their compilation album Showbiz Kids we heard Steely Dan with Rikki Don't Lose That Number."

Ian Hunter

"Featuring the likes of the lovely named Vom on drums from I think it was Doctor And The Medics wasn't it. And Darrell Bath on guitar. "Honest" John Plain. Casino Steel on the keyboards. And Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols on bass. That is Dirty Laundry. A kind of a vehicle for a semi Ian Hunter solo album if you like from 1995. The song Red Letter Day."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. This week all the way from San Antonio in Texas. It's time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna hit rock bottom with UFO."

UFO

"And before that from one of the best live albums ever made Strangers In The Night from 1987. The band UFO. The most brilliant live version of the song Rock Bottom."

Toad The Wet Sprocket

"Now interestingly that band took their name from a sketch in an episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus which was about a fictitious band called Toad The Wet Sprocket. But there they are, came to life. Indeed they did. Probably their best known song from Fear the song is Walk On The Ocean."

Oasis

"Now it would be very remiss of me to not acknowledge what happened at the Manchester Arena on Monday evening. A venue that Def Leppard have played many times in the past. But I will keep it simple. To the city of Manchester, stay strong, live forever."

"And before that Oasis from the album Definitely Maybe. And if my facts are right, I do believe that particular song was the first song that Noel Gallagher ever wrote. What a way to start your career. The song Live Forever."

The Babys

"Two Mancunian bands of very contrasting styles there. One band stayed at home and became mega successful. The other band shuffled off to Los Angeles to find fame and fortune which unfortunately didn't happen for them. But they did write some great songs along the way. The band are The Babys and from their album Broken Heart we just heard Isn't It Time."

KISS

"OK it's time to Shout It Out Loud. This is KISS."

"And before that from 1976. The summer of '76 may be remembered more for safety pins and Malcolm McClaren and King's Road and the Sex Pistols and The Clash but for me a six foot high poster of four guys wearing facepaint in Bradley's Records on Fargate in Sheffield blew my mind. And that album was Destroyer. The band KISS, the song Shout It Out Loud."

Sex Pistols

"From The Great Rock And Roll Swindle album that is the Sex Pistols. Or really it's just Cooky and Jones 'cause Matlock had long gone. I think Sid was probably dead by then and Jonny Lydon wanted nothing to do with it any more. But that's a great song. The song is Silly Thing."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from San Antonio in Texas is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time all the way from Calgary in Alberta in Canada. On what will be Ian Hunter's 78th birthday. Good grief, the man is like the energizer bunny, he just never stops. No doubt I'll be throwing in one or two Ian Hunter songs next week."

"In fact let's end the show with one of his but with a twist. He doesn't like this song, but I do. This was the anthem of the summer of '77 for me and my buddies back in Sheffield. It's from the My Re-Generation album. This is the Down 'n' Outz with almighty England Rocks. Until next week see ya!."
