PHIL COLLEN On DEF LEPPARD's New 2018 EP And World Tour

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen has been interviewed by the Utah press ahead of tonight's show in Salt Lake City.

Phil talked to Eric Walden of the Salt Lake Tribune ahead of tonight's show.

He talked about touring, the Salt Lake City audience, the band's musical legacy, new music, 2018 world tour and still making new music.

Phil mentioned the likelihood of a new EP in 2018 and gave a few more details about the upcoming world tour, suggesting the band will be visiting more new countries.

He was promoting the show in Salt Lake City, UT which takes place later tonight.

Journey bassist Ross Valory recently suggested a co-headline tour with Journey will happen in 2018. Possibly the North American leg of the tour.

Phil first revealed plans for new music and a 2018 world tour back in March and this was followed up by Joe in April, who said the band would also play shows in UK/Europe on the tour.

"Still, that doesn't mean Def Leppard are going to stop making new music. They issued a self-titled album in 2015, and Collen said an EP's worth of new stuff will probably be out next year in advance of "a massive world tour [being] planned, with a bunch of different places we haven't played before, and places we haven't been to in years."

"It's more than an itch - that's your reason to exist. You have this creative expression. You always need to put more in your arsenal. It just keeps growing so have a better take on it - lyrically, groove-wise, everything. That, to me, is probably the most exciting and rewarding part of the whole thing."
