Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week it is coming to you all the way from Las Vegas in Nevada. This is a city where musicians used to come to fade away. But not any more, it is a place of beauty. It is the most rock and roll city you can ever imagine with shows on every night. Year in, year out. An amazing place. In a few hours time Def Leppard play the MGM Grand. A venue you may well have heard of. Some great artists from Elvis Presley to the Rat Pack onwards and some amazing boxing fights have taken place in this very venue. We have sixty minutes of great music for you tonight. Starting off with this little beauty from the British Lions."

British Lions

"From their 1977 debut album that is the British Lions with a song called One More Chance To Run. Actually covered by the Down 'n' Outz on our first album, the My ReGeneration album which is seven years old this month I believe it is. I can't believe it's that long ago. But that's the original version and I'm playing that because I wanna send out some love to John Fiddler, the leader of the British Lions, who's not been very well recently. So on behalf of all Planet Rock listeners, and of course myself, get well soon John."

ZZ Top

"Right let's get into the spirit of Las Vegas shall we. This is a little bit of EP by ZZ."

"And before that we heard ZZ Top from their Greatest Hits with their version of the old Elvis Presley classic Viva Las Vegas."

Def Leppard

"Well it would have been rude not to play it really wouldn't it. That's Def Leppard with Good Morning Freedom. Originally the B-Side of Hello America and we hadn't played it since 1980 when we finally gave it a run out in Las Vegas in 2013 when we recorded VIVA! Hysteria playing it under the name of Ded Flatbird, as you do."

Tesla

"Now a band currently out on tour with Def Leppard right now with their take of a classic Sly And The Family Stone song. This is Tesla."

"And before that Tesla from their covers album Reel To Reel with their take of the fantastic Sly And The Family Stone's I Wanna Take You Higher."

Little Steven

"He had a very significant role in the Sopranos. He's been playing guitar with Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band for decades. But there out on his own, sort of, Little Steven and the Disciples Of Soul. Who are in fact Jason Bonham on drums and Adam Clayton from U2 on bass. From the album Born Again Savage from 1999 that's Salvation."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. This week coming to you all the way from Las Vegas in Nevada. It's time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna have a quick flip through the book of invasions by Horslips."

Horslips

"And before that Horslips from their 1977 album The Book Of Invasions with The Power And The Glory."

Yes

"Just about every sound engineer for a touring rock band has a song that they play through the PA during soundcheck. To test the speakers, to test the room. It's something that they're familiar with, that they can line up the sound and make sure that they're happy before all the people are let in. Well the guy that does the sound for Poison plays that song just about every night after we finish our soundcheck. So it's been stuck in my head for quite a few months now. And I thought I should give it a run out. It is from the album Union. the band is Yes. The song we just heard Lift Me Up."

Robin Zander

"Now a couple of really cool covers for ya coming up right now. Starting off with Robin Zander out on his own. Away from Cheap Trick for a change doing a great job on an old Roy Wood number."

"And before that Robin Zander the lead singer of Cheap Trick doing a wonderful job on The Move's Blackberry Way."

Wreckless Eric

"When an artist that you really respect does a cover of a song that you really like. When the two meet and they work, it's a thing of beauty. And that is for me a thing of beauty. That is Wreckless Eric from the Mojo Presents Something Else CD with his version of the Kinks classic Death Of A Clown."

The Quireboys

"OK here's Spike and the boys getting all Torn And Frayed."

"And before that The Quireboys from their latest album Twisted Love with Torn And Frayed."

Imperial Drag

"Last week I played The Pretty Reckless. A song called Heaven Knows which I think I described as a glam tastic foot stomper or something along those lines. That song to me falls in the same category. It is called Boy Or Are You A Girl by a band called Imperial Drag."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Las Vegas in Nevada is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time all the way from Chicago just a couple of days before the tour comes to a grinding halt, for at least a couple of months."

"So I'll leave you this week with this little beauty all the way from over the Irish sea. Northern Ireland specifically. The band from Derry. They're The Undertones. This is Jimmy Jimmy. Until next week see ya!."
