Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the fantastic Planet Rock. It is coming to you this week all the way from California. I have just flown in for what is a very special occasion. I shall tell you about that in a little while. But welcome to sixty minutes of fantastic music in what has been for me a week that you can only call a whirlwind. So it seems very appropriate to open with this."

Roxy Music

"There's two albums that I just can not stop playing at the moment. One of them is the first Peter Gabriel album. The one with Salisbury Hill on it. And the second album is the one that we just heard a song from right there. The album Siren from 1975. The band Roxy Music. The song we just heard Whirlwind."

Cybernauts/Celebrating David Bowie

"Well I mentioned at the top of the show that I'd flown into California for a very special occasion. It is tied in with the fact that last weekend, I was in Brixton at the academy guesting with the various different members of David Bowie's touring bands over the years. At a show called Remembering David Bowie. I got up and did a couple of songs. And I shall be getting up and doing them again at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles in a few days time."

"The songs that I played, well, I couldn't pick between Mott the Hoople and David Bowie for this particular track. So I figured I'd play this version."

"And before that I just couldn't pick between Mott the Hoople and David Bowie. So I went with a version that the Cybernauts recorded in 2001. The Cybernauts of course were myself, Phil Collen, Dick Decent, Woody Woodmansey and Trevor Bolder. Our version of the immortal All The Young Dudes."

David Bowie

"Two songs there that I had the enormous privilege of singing last weekend at the Brixton Academy with various members of David Bowie's touring bands over the years. And tick another box with being on the same stage as Mike Garson and Earl Slick. The song we just heard Suffragette City. Originally from the Ziggy Stardust album. The first song that Def Leppard ever played back in 1977."

Rolling Stones/Bernard Fowler

"Now along with all the guest vocalists for the Remembering David Bowie gig, there was one guy that was fronting he band on a lot of the other songs. His name is Bernard Fowler. I've known him for years. I first worked with him with Ronnie Wood back in 1991 on an album called Slide On This. And when he's not fronting the David Bowie touring band, he sings with this crowd."

"And before that the Rolling Stones Doom And Gloom. Featuring, if you listen very carefully, the backing vocals of one Mr. Bernard Fowler."

The Kinks

"That band are what's known as a British National Treasure. Absolutely amazing. That is the Kinks there from their album Arthur Of The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire with a song called Shangri La."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna get all 21st century and schizoid with King Crimson."

King Crimson

"And before that King Crimson from their album In The Court Of The Crimson King with the incredible 21st Century Schizoid Man."

Peter Gabriel

"I mentioned earlier how there are two albums this week that I just can not stop playing. One of them being Roxy Music's Siren. The other one being the first Peter Gabriel solo album after he left Genesis. There a song from it called Moribund The Burgermeister."

Slade

"OK so to paraphrase Mr. David Bowie, here's a little bit of Black Country rock. This is Slade."

"And before that we heard Slade. The studio version of a song that I only ever heard live before. Live from the BBC but it's a studio session of course. The song Know Who You Are."

Ian Hunter

"77 years young and gets better and better with time. Mr. Ian Hunter there from his latest album Fingers Crossed with a magnificent song called Morpheus."

The Struts

"OK time for something, well pretty brand new, this is The Struts."

"And before that, almost brand new, at least 2016. We heard the wonderful Struts from the album Everybody Wants with Put Your Hands Up ."

T. Rex

"You may have heard me say this before so forgive me for repeating myself. But in my humble opinion the B-Side that T. Rex put out back in 1972 were arguably as good, if not better, than the A-Sides. And there's no better example than that particular song. Jitterbug Love by T. Rex."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from, believe it or not, rainy California is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time."

"Until then, well, we've had a fantastic 55 minutes, Glamtastic 55 minutes worth of music. Why stop now. From his second solo album back in 1975 doing a great job on an old Little Richard number. This is Mick Ronson from the album Play Don't Worry with Girl Can't Help It. Until next week see ya!."
