Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here in the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to ya once again from California, albeit for the last time in a while, I'm heading off home in a few days time. We have what's known as sixty minutes of fantastic music for you tonight. Starting off with absolutely brand spanking new Black Star Riders."

Black Star Riders

"Brand new music from the Black Star Riders and what a great record it is. It's called Heavy Fire. The song we just heard When The Night Comes In. There's some great lyrics on this album. Ricky Warwick has done an outstanding job writing lyrics for this album. He is a great, great songwriter. I've known Ricky for 20 years now. I met him at a David Bowie gig. Which leads me very nicely into this next link..."

Bernard Fowler

"...because as the Celebrating David Bowie troupe headed off this week from Los Angeles to Tokyo and Sydney without yours truly. I would dearly loved to have gone with them but just couldn't do it I'm afraid. I was handed a CD by one Mr. Bernard Fowler. Now I mentioned him last week. He's singing a lot of lead vocals on the Celebrating David Bowie shows. I met him when he was working with Ronnie Wood. He sings backing vocals for the Rolling Stones. I did a, what do you call a duet with three people?. A tri-ette? with himself and Kid Rock on a Rolling Stones song called Wild Horses many, many years ago. He has a solo album out where he actually covers another Rolling Stones song which I was nearly gonna play. But I thought I'd go for this one because it's got Phil X, who plays guitar these days for Bon Jovi, and Slash playing guitars. This is Bernard Fowler from his album The Bura with a cover of a classic Queen song."

"And before that from his album The Bura we heard Bernard Fowler. Known mostly for singing backing vocals for the Rolling Stones with his version of the Queen classic Dragon Attack."

Montrose

"Couple of covers back to back there. That's a 1975 version by Montrose from their album Warner Bros. Presents and a song called O Lucky Man!. Which was originally written and recorded by one Mr. Alan Price about two years earlier from the movie O Lucky Man! featuring Malcolm McDowell. Alan Price of course very famous keyboard played for The Animals with songs such as Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood and The House of the Rising Sun."

UFO

"OK here's one of the classic British bands who'd just taken on board a 19 year old German wizard on guitar. This is UFO."

Lone Star/UFO

"From their 1977 second album Firing On All Six that is Lone Star with a song called Time Lays Down. Lone Star featured on guitar Paul Chapman, who would just a couple of years later replace Michael Schenker in UFO. Who we just heard before Lone Star from their '74 album Phenomenon with a great song called Space Child."

John Wetton

"Well I think it's safe to say that January of 2017 was slightly kinder to us than January of 2016. Although we did lose Pete Overend Watts last week and this week we lost another one who we shall be celebrating after the break. One Mr. John Wetton."

Roxy Music

"And before that, for a very brief period of time, at least live, he played with Roxy Music. Who we just heard him with there from the live album Viva with a version of the song from the Siren album Out Of The Blue."

Family

"I think it's fair to say that, commercially at least, John Wetton was probably best known for his work with Asia. But before he was in Asia he played in a plethora of different types of bands. Bands like UK. Coincidentally, the same as Trevor Bolder, he played briefly in both Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep. And he also played in the band Family and there he was featured on the song Burlesque from the album Bandstand back in 1971."

Japan

"OK time for a little bit of Adolescent Sex with Japan."

"And before that from their debut album in I believe '76, we heard the band Japan from the album Adolescent Sex with Lovers On Main Street."

Sparks

"From that glorious part of our past, the 70s. When bands released seven inch vinyl singles and the B-Sides were just awesome. And that is a great example. That is Sparks with a song called Lost And Found. Originally I think it was the B-Side of Amateur Hour. These days you can find it as a bonus track on the re-release of Kimono My House."

Doctors Of Madness

"Alrighty time to get the cameras out. This is the Doctors Of Madness."

"And before that slightly more avant garde stroke Punk of the very British Doctors Of Madness. From their album Figments Of Emancipation with the song In Camera."

Kansas

"Wow that really is a nice bit of musical chalk and cheese right there folks isn't it?. That was Kansas from their album Left Overture with a song called The Wall."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from California is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time from the Garage. Yes, I shall be back home."

"In a few days time I shall be doing exactly what Bachman Turner Overdrive are about to do right now from their Not Fragile album. That is Roll On Down The Highway and what a way to end the show. Until next week see ya!."
