Trudi And Jim - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Live From Detroit DVD Filming

"I know we've been there a lot. Obviously it's one of the reasons we done it because it's always such a great audience. But also it was the first show to sell out on the tour. So it proved ravenous support from the Detroit-ers so absolutely."

Nervous filming a Live DVD?

"No I actually never get nervous but something really strange happened when we done this one. I wasn't expecting like drone cameras and stuff. So you know I never care. You can put me in front of a million people, which we've played in front of a million people and - any audience and I never even get butterflies, nothing. But we do this thing, I go out on stage and there's something buzzing around my head and it was this drone camera."

"So it really was a little bit off putting I gotta say. It actually put us in a different kind of. It wasn't normal, it wasn't the normal thing where you look out and there's the audience and this and that and the band on stage. All of a sudden there's this new technology floating around your head while you're playing a guitar solo. So it was a different feeling but it was still a great show. It was amazing, it just had a different component to it as well."

Live From Detroit DVD

"Talking of Eagle Rock, they've done such an amazing job. Like normally when you get - you know they go oh this is the first draft or whatever, You look at all the scenes and you know you go well that's an unflattering shot and you know get rid of that at 53.7 seconds or whatever. Didn't have to do one thing. Didn't have to change one thing, they nailed it. They nailed all the angles. When you do a live show and you record it there's always a lot missing you know. You're not there so you have to make it up."

"I've seen so many DVD's and live footage things where it's a little bit flat and you go I was there and it wasn't really like that. These guys nailed it. I mean it was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen that we've ever done from that point of view. You know they actually, they captured all the essence of a live Def Leppard show. So very impressed. It's really cool. Loving the way it turned out and Ronan McHugh who you know who's our producer ans well as our out front sound guy for Def Leppard. He mixed the whole thing as well. So you know if you've been to the show, that's how it sounds."
