Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott took part in a live Q and A session in London last night and gave an update on new music.

He spoke about the Hysteria album at length and then gave an update on new music.

He says the band now have up to three more songs on the go and ready for recording which could lead to a full album but this would not likely be released until 2019.

He then went on to say he will continue work on the third Down 'n' Outz album and his ongoing "duo" project with Canadian singer Emm Gryner.

The last update on new music was by Phil who said the band will likely begin recording in in October after they complete the 2017 tour. Having previously said the band "will" have at least one new song out before the 2018 tour starts.

3rd August 2017 - Joe Elliott Live Q And A Quotes

New Def Leppard Music

"There isn't an album planned but we are an ongoing situation. Def Leppard never comes to a conclusion or hasn't done yet. You know even if we disappear for four and a half years like we did between Pyromania and Hysteria, we are working under the radar. We're always working under the radar. I know for a fact that me and Phil have got a song on the go. Sav's got a song on the go. I've got another song on the go. (An EP?). That's been discussed. We tried to do that two years ago and we ended up with an album."

"So you know - seriously, we were trying to. We were just gonna do three songs. Someone goes; 'I've got this song', 'I've got this song'. We have 12 songs...wow. So we're waiting to see what happens there. We've got, in the not too distant future, we've got eight shows in South America. And then we're done until next year."

Third Down 'n' Outz Album

"So what happens in between then and next year. it’s not a closely guarded secret but I’ve got to deliver a Down 'n' Outz album or I'm going to get taken to court. It's a contract!."

Emm Gryner Collaboration/Def Leppard Music

"I’m working with this girl called Emm Gryner, she’s a fantastic singer-songwriter from Canada and people have asked me what it’s going to sound like - when Robert Plant and Alison Krauss made that record, it’s going to be kind of like Leonard Cohen and Tori Amos making ‘Hunky Dory’."

"So it’s totally nothing to do with Def Leppard, I’ve got that to do plus the fact me and Phil were talking the other day and it’s like ‘we’ve got to make some music’. So we’re going to write and record and see what happens. And if it comes out next year then great, if it doesn’t and comes out the year after, it doesn’t matter."
