The Joe Elliott Show #317 - Transcript

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome. It is the Joe Elliott show once again here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you. We have sixty minutes of what I like to consider great music tonight. A bit of this and a bit of that. I'm sure something for everybody. Starting off with this beauty from the Destroyer album from KISS. Take it away Peter Criss."

KISS

"In that hot old summer of 1976 that album barely left my turntable, it's that good a record. It is KISS from the album Destroyer with the song Do You Love Me."

New York Dolls

"And talking of KISS. Well. Mr Johansen happens to be looking for one. You tell 'em David."

"And before that the New York Dolls from their debut album back in 1973 with Lookin' For A Kiss."

Ian Hunter

"What a month it is if you happen to be an Ian Hunter fan. On the same day as he releases a 32 disc box set of his entire solo career 1975 to 2016. He releases a brand new album called Fingers Crossed. That is the kind of lead track off it. A song that he wrote back in January after he'd heard the news that David Bowie had passed away. The song is called Dandy and what a great bit of work it is. That is Ian Hunter. The new album Fingers Crossed out in a few."

Mick Ronson

"And talking of Ian Hunter. Here's his old sparring partner. This is Mick Ronson."

"And before that Mick Ronson from 1975, his second solo album Play Don't Worry, the song Billy Porter."

Down 'n' Outz

"And that is from The Further Adventures Of The Down 'n' Outz from 2014. A Pete Watts written song. Pete Watts, a man who likes to walk so much, he actually wrote a book about it. The song Stiff Upper Lip."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show right here on the fantastic Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back fellow presenter Alice Cooper is gonna be singing about a rather disgusting piece of head wear."

Alice Cooper

"And before that we heard Alice Cooper from the Killer album with the epic Halo Of Flies."

Bad Company

"Lovely bit of work there from Bad Company from their third album Run With The Pack from 1976. That's the title track."

Yes

"Right have some of this. This being Yes."

"And before that Yes from the album Big Generator which featured Trevor Rabin on guitar. What a player he is with a song called Love Will Find A Way."

Crosby Stills Nash & Young

"I've always loved that album for its diversity and its variety which you can expect when six different people are involved in it. It doesn't really ever get the full credit it deserves. And it never really gets referred to, in its proper title. The album is Deja Vu. Often just credited to Crosby Stills Nash & Young. But its actually Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves. The song that we just heard was the title track from the album Deja Vu."

Cheap Trick

"OK let's rock it up a little bit shall we. This is Cheap Trick."

"And before that from the album The Latest which is not actually Cheap Trick's latest album. That album I have been selling up a lot. But this is the album from 2008. Still a fantastic record. The song we just heard, Sick Man Of Europe."

The Ramones

"I firmly believe that everybody should have some Blitzkrieg Bop in their life and I thought I would share. That is the first song that The Ramones ever released. It was their first single. It was also track one off their very first album back in 1976."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you god willing next week at the same time from the mile high city. Yes it's difficult to breathe in Denver, Colorado."

"But how could I pass up this particular moment right now. Who's birthday was it this week?. Whose 70th birthday would it have been this week?. The mighty, mighty Freddie Mercury. Let's go out with a song that brought it all to us in the first place. This is Queen with Seven Seas Of Rhye. Until next week see ya!."
