Bryan Adams recently posted a rare photo from 1991 of himself in studio with Mutt Lange on his Instagram account.

The pair were recording backing vocals at Battery Studios in London, England for his 1991 album 'Waking Up the Neighbours'.

Quite possibly the only photo published of Mutt Lange actually singing. It shows Bryan and Mutt wearing headphones and singing whilst reading a lyric sheet. Judging by the reflection it appears to have been taken from inside the control room. The album sleeve credited them as "The Tuck Back Twins".

Philip Nicholas played keyboards and the album which was 'recorded by' engineer Nigel Green. Philip had played keyboards on 'Hysteria' and on 'Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)' with Nigel working with Def Leppard from 1981 to 1987.

'Waking Up the Neighbours' was released in September 1991 and contained the massive hit 'Everything I Do (I Do It For You)'. One of seven singles released from the album in 1991/992 which spent a record 16 consecutive weeks at Number One in the UK.

Mutt used the trademark sound he had perfected with Def Leppard on this album which included use of the programmed drum sound. The songs also featured the big backing vocals with quite a few of them sounding almost the same as those released in 1992 by Def Leppard on their own 'Adrenalize' album.

Mutt also co-wrote most of the tracks on both albums and was executive producer (and background vocalist) for Def Leppard whilst continuing to work with Bryan.

He even offered them the song 'Touch The Hand' before Bryan decided to keep it. Watch the promo video for this song on YouTube.

Bryan would perform with Def Leppard in Paris at a May 1993 concert on the Adrenalize tour.

They would also co-headline a charity concert in August 1992 at Madison Square Garden and tour together as co-headliners on the Rock Of Ages tour in 2005.

View the photo (posted on 10th August) which was taken in the same studio where 'High 'n' Dry' was recorded.

Later used to record overdubs for and to mix 'Pyromania' and then 'Hysteria' in early 1987.

Bryan Adams Quote

"Recording background vocals in London together with the amazing Mutt Lange back in 1991 for the album #wakinguptheneighbours."
