28 Years Ago Def Leppard Release Armageddon It Single In USA

Def Leppard released their classic Armageddon It single 28 years ago on this day in 1988 in the USA and Canada.

The fourth single to be released from the 'Hysteria' album in the UK.

It a had already been released as single four in the UK in March 1988 where it would go on to peak at Number 20 in the singles chart.

It was released on 2nd November 1988 reaching Number 3 on the US Billboard charts in early 1989.

The fifth hit single there from the album.

Previous US single 'Love Bites' had reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on 8th October.

Following on from the success of the 'Hysteria' album which finally topped the Billboard chart on 23rd July some 11 months after it had been released.

The band had ended the 14 month long 'Hysteria' world tour on Tacoma, WA and were about to film the video for 'Rocket' and return to Wisseloord Studios in Holland to start recording what would become 'Adrenalize'.
