The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome. It is the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. We have tonight what I consider sixty minutes of great music. I hope there's a little bit of something for everyone. Let's start the show off shall we by sinking some rags with T. Rex."

T. Rex

"Well it could be argued that that's as good as the A Side if not better. That is a song called Sunken Rags by T. Rex. It was the B Side of the 1973 single Children Of The Revolution. From a time period where Marc Bolan was writing such great songs that his B Sides almost sounded wasted. But for a kid that could only afford seven inch singles, and not LP's at the time. It was fantastic to get two songs for the price of one. T. Rex Sunken Rags."

Def Leppard - Excitable

"Now as you know this is not a request show but how do you turn down a four year old kid called Alfie Sheldon. I do believe he had a little help from his parents but still. I've got a question for you Alfie."

Sutherland Brothers & Quiver/Def Leppard

"Amazing to think that when that band played one of their songs live on a German tour once. They nearly got booed offstage. Even though they wrote the song. Why? because the song was Sailing and it had just been a hit for Rod Stewart. That is Sutherland Brothers & Quiver from their The Very Best Of album with a fantastic song called Dream Kid."

"And before that Def Leppard from the Hysteria album. For four year old Alfie Sheldon. His favourite song Excitable."

Queen

"Often overlooked, the album tracks of Queen, because their Greatest Hits album is the biggest selling record of all time in the UK. But they did have some fantastic, what we like to call deep tracks. There's one of them from the album A Day At The Races. That is White Man."

Supertramp

"As I think I mentioned last week. We finished off the first leg of the Def Leppard 2016 tour in Orlando, Florida. And because my flight was a really late night flight I had the entire next day sat on my balcony. And I had what I like to call a tramp fest. Yes, I sat watching the sun, listening to song after song, song after song by Supertramp. And they really did have some classic stuff. And there from their album Crisis, What Crisis? which came out in 1975. We just heard Sister Moonshine out of the break. Which was followed by Sister Midnight. Couldn't get much different could ya?. By Iggy Pop of course. An album produced by David Bowie. The album The Idiot."

Show Outro

"And as I just mentioned Cheap Trick. I think it's kind of cool that we're gonna end the show with them. It has been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you god willing next week at the same time."

"So until then here are the Rockford Fab Four doing the English Fab Four. This is Cheap Trick and their version of The Beatles classic Magical Mystery Tour. Until next week see ya!."
