The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Orlando, Florida. Where last night Def Leppard finished the first leg of the USA 2016 tour. And I am literally in a couple of hours time, heading off to the airport and flying overnight to go home for a whole month off. Fantastic stuff!. We have tonight sixty minutes of, I think of fantastic music starting off with KISS."

KISS/Gene Simmons

"I've been conversing with Mr. Gene Simmons this week actually on and off on email. He's in very chipper form as usual. He is a very positive person and why wouldn't he be. He's Gene Simmons and he's in KISS. From their very first album. The very first track of their career. A song called Strutter. They do of course come from the more theatrical side of rock. As does this gentleman. And as it is really kicking off over here right now politically. This seems a very apt song to play."

The Struts

"Now I was driving back with Sav on the bus the other night from a gig in Mohegan Sun back to Boston. Two hour drive. Not really much to do except sit around listening to music. I played him some of the stuff from the new Struts album. And like me he said this is one of the best songs he's heard in many a year. This is The Struts."

Star Dancer/The Struts

"One of the perks of being a DJ. And I do use the term loosely. I should say one of the perks of being a presenter on a station like Planet Rock is that I do get sent a lot of music for consideration as they like to say. Some of it very inappropriate. But sometimes the odd little gem shines through and that for me is one of them. It's a band called Star Dancer. The album is called Welcome To My World and the song that we just heard is called High & The Mighty."

"And before that from their brand new re-release if you like. The redux version of Everybody Wants. We heard The Struts with the absolutely brilliant Mary Go Round."

Ricky Warwick

"Keeping up the pace there. My old mate Ricky Warwick from his second solo album Love Many, Trust Few that I worked with him on. It must be nearly 14 years ago now. Time really does fly. The song that we just heard Anybody Wanna Waste Some Time. And when i saw him play it live once in a tent in Dublin. Who was his lead guitar player?. Paul Guerin from the Down 'n' Outz and of course The Quireboys."

The Ramones/Redd Kross

"Somebody put something in my drink once and you know who he is. But I'm not gonna tell you because it wouldn't be really fair. Maybe I'll tell you if ever write the book. That is The Ramones there from their collection Mania with Somebody Put Something In My Drink. And before that Redd Kross from their brilliant album Faceshifter with the song Dumb Angel."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Orlando in Florida, is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you god willing at the same time next week."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with this. Alex Harvey had been around for years. He was the Scottish Tommy Steele. He had the Alex Harvey soul band. But in 1972 he stumbled across four guys in the gorbles in Glasgow called Tear Gas. He stole them and he turned them into the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. And from their very first album in 1972. From an album called Framed. This is St. Anthony. Until next week see ya!."
