The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome. It is The Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It's great to be with you once again. Sixty minutes of what I consider to be, in my humble opinion, great music coming up for ya. I've been thinking a lot this week about song intros. How important they can be to hook you in. Whether it be a great guitar chord or a drum fill. Or a straightforward gabba gabba hey. One, two, three , four. the way that The Ramones did it. Or maybe like this one. Also a band from New York, with just a little gentle shake of their maracas."

Queen

"Now I've been tidying up my iTunes files this week because quite frankly they were all over the place. And of course you rediscover stuff that you've forgotten about. Check this out from what's known as a Rocks Retake. This is Queen."

"And before that we heard Queen. Originally from the album Innuendo. The song called I Can't Live With You but it was actually the Rocks Retake from the Queen Rocks collection."

Uriah Heep

"I have to say Def Leppard really learnt a lot when we toured with Uriah Heep back in 1983. We were just starting out in the big league. They'd been there. They'd done that and Mick Box. What a lovely guy. One of the funniest men I've ever met in rock and roll. Absolutely hilarious but he always had a word. A good one or a bad one. If we were going off on maybe a wrong direction. He would take us to one side and says boys, I wouldn't do that if I were you. And we used to listen to him. I've always thought of Mick Box as a bit of a mentor and a great writer along with Ken Hensley in one of the earliest incarnations of Uriah Heep. Which we just heard there from the album Magician's Birthday that was a song called Sweet Lorraine.

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you god willing next week at exactly the same time."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with some beautiful melodic Beatles from the album Revolver. This is And Your Bird Can Sing. Until next week see ya!."
