Phil Collen/Robert DeLeo Talk Delta Deep Ahead Of New Jersey Show

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen has been interviewed alongside Delta Deep bandmate Robert DeLeo by the New Jersey press.

Phil talked about the history of Delta Deep, their musical style and the Hysteria album.

Robert talked about playing small venues, growing up in New Jersey and Stone Temple Pilots.

The band will play a show in Asbury Park, NJ on 30th March.

Delta Deep were recently confirmed to play the Riverbend Festival on 18th June in Chattanooga, TN.

They had already announced an East Coast run for their ongoing Sugar Shack tour which kicks off on 28th March in Washington D.C..

The debut self titled album Delta Deep came out in June 2015.

Hysteria Album

Phil - "I remember when (Def Leppard) were doing the 'Hysteria' (1987) album, which was almost 30 years ago," Collen said. "We were just trying to create a hybrid. It was all the great stuff that we grew up with. It was all the Zeppelins and all of the (Deep) Purples, all of that stuff, and also Prince and the Police, and trying to bring these influences into it and create this hybrid."

Robert - "I think it’s always been there, I think it’s just louder with STP. Listen to ‘Interstate Love Song,’ which I wrote back in '94. That’s straight-up Motown R&B. If you go listen to ‘MTV Unplugged’ (1993) and hear us doing ‘Wicked Garden,’ that’s really a Tower of Power bass line."
