Tesla's new Mechanical Resonance LIVE! album is due out on 24th June featuring a new song written with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen.

The album is set to feature one new studio song co-written and produced by Phil Collen.

Phil is also currently working with the band on their next studio album which may be finished this year and released in 2017.

The album is currently listed for release on Friday 24th June on the Tesla Electric Co.

The full tracklisting will most likely be the same order as the original studio album.

The new song was tentatively named 'Save That Goodness' in October 2015 and guitarist Frank Hannon mentioned the title again in an interview recorded in January 2016 during the Hysteria cruise.

The original 12 track 'Mechanical Resonance' album, their debut release, was first issued in December 1986.

Nine months later they started touring with Def Leppard from August 1987 to June 1988 on the Hysteria tour. Playing over 100 shows.

After a handful of shows in 2005 and 2011 they would return again as a support act in 2015 and now from June to October on the upcoming US summer tour.

By its end they will have played more shows with Def Leppard than any other artist by a considerable distance. Around 300 or so shows.

Read Frank Hannon's explanation of how the current live album and single were all Phil's idea, as well as their 2015 stage outfits.

Bam Magazine January 2016 - Frank Hannon Interview Quotes

Working With Phil Collen

"Well, I have to be honest. Back in 2000 when Tesla reunited and we started writing songs for the 'Into The Now' album. I had personally wanted Phil Collen to come in and be a producer at that point. And I had talked to him on the phone a few times about it. But the band had just gotten back together and were still trying to figure ourselves out. And we had Michael Rosen come in. We had Roger Sommers. We had all these different people coming in at different points of the production. And then Phil went back on the road and it didn't work out."

2015 Def Leppard Tour

"So now fast forward 15 years later. And we're back on the road with Def Leppard and Phil really loves the band and has been spending a lot of time in our dressing room hanging out with us. And you know, he got Brian on a vegan diet and helped Brian you know get healthy. And myself too. We lost a bunch of weight with Phil's help. Phil's like a life coach man. The guy is an inspiration. I mean you know you see him on stage and he's in such great shape."

"Anyway we've always been brothers with those guys since 1986 when they took us on the road with them for almost two years. Phil was thinking about Tesla after you know watching the show. The first thing they did. This is some funny stuff for you. Phil and his wife Helen - is a costume designer in New York for a photographer and they came into our dressing room and said hey guys you could really use some new clothes. Because I have to be honest I do my shopping at either Walmart or Flying J truck stop. Flying J has got some great trucker clothes and I personally like those things but they don't necessarily look good on stage."

"And so Helen and Phil had some custom clothes made for us which was really cool. By this designer out of New York. And all of a sudden we started looking like rock 'n' rollers again. If you look at some of the pictures there's a transformation of Tesla last year. Where we went from looking like truckers to to looking like rock 'n' rollers. And you know by the time we hit Shoreline there in the Bay Area. We were all dressed up real spiffy thanks to the guys and gal in Def Leppard."

Mechanical Resonance LIVE! Album/New Song

"So that was the first step and then the next step was is Phil said hey guys you really - he was telling us something that Def Leppard had done. Is they had recorded a live album a live album of their hits. So Phil had a great idea for Tesla to record our first album Mechanical Resonance. All the songs on it live in the show. So we did that and we've been mixing it and it's gonna come out in June. It's called Mechanical Resonance LIVE! and it's got every song from the first album recorded live."

"So then the next step was Phil wanted to write a song with the band. So he had a song that he'd been working on called 'Save That Goodness' and we started working on it with him and that will be the bonus track on the record. On the live record. It's pretty much all done now. It started off in the dressing room and then the hotel room and then we ended up in Brian Wheat's studio and the song is completely tracked."
