The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"(sings) - "Summer time and the living is easy. Fish are jumping and the weather is HOT." Yes, it's hot. Dublin, Ireland. It's early June and it's roasting. For the last seven days it's been amazing. I know it's been raining quite a lot in the UK. I do apologise for sounding rather smarmy. But the weather is so good it just made me very happy. Very happy to be on Planet Rock again with you guys for the next sixty minutes. It's the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock and there is a brand new rose in town and it belongs to The Damned."

Blackfoot Sue

"When I moved to London in 1981. I moved to an area just of the capital really called Isleworth. It was kinda halfway between Surrey and Hammersmith. And I had to open a bank account of course. And I went in and the bank manager said 'So what do you do for a living son?'. I said well I'm in a band. He says 'Oh, we look after a band at this bank. We look after Blackfoot Sue.'. So I actually shared technically a bank once with that band. That is Blackfoot Sue with one of their - actually I think their one and only hit. Which is very reminiscent to my ears they were to Slade. A song called Standing In The Road."

Hozier/10cc

"As I tend to do when I rub shoulders with people that you and I may be aware of through their songs. I tend to feature them If I've bumped into them. Well, last Saturday I was at barbecue and who was there?. Kevin Godley from 10cc and this young man also. His name in Andrew. Better known to you and I as Hozier."

"Well seeing as it was Kevin Godley the drummer, I thought I'd feature one of their songs that has quite a distinctive drum sound. And there it is from 1972 from the album 10cc. A song called Headline Hustler."

"And before that Hozier from his debut album which is long overdue for a kind of a follow up. But he's been touring so hard for the last two years that he hasn't really had time. Song called To be Alone."

Journey

"For all their massive hits it's still my favourite Journey song by a country mile. Pulled there from the Essential Journey album that is Chain Reaction."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, and I say it for the last time, from a roasting hot Dublin, Ireland is about it for this week. Been an absolute pleasure. I shall be back with you god willing at the same time."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with this great bot of work from a Welsh band called Badfinger. They were signed to Apple. I believe they were the first band other than The Beatles to be signed to Apple. The were taken under the wing of the likes of Paul McCartney who wrote a song for them called Come And Get It. They were produced by George Harrison. And this is a song that Def Leppard loved so much that all five of us said I wanna do that song when we did our covers album back in 2006. The YEAH! album. This is Badfinger and No Matter What. Until next week see ya!."
