The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening everyone. Or should I say Bonjour because tonight the Joe Elliott show is coming to you this week. All the way from Quebec City in Canada. We have hopped over the border for a one off show. And tonight after the gig we shall hop back over the border back into American territory. We've got some fantastic music for you tonight. Starting off with my favourite current band. This is The Struts."

The Struts

"Nice to see them getting some recognition in their home country. They've been doing so well in the States. But they're finally getting some airplay and they're finally really getting some traction in the UK which after all is their home country. Luke is from Bristol. The other three guys are from Derbyshire. And it's taken a while, and I know how they feel because it took a while for Def Leppard to be accepted in England. But it happened in the end. They are fantastic. They are The Struts and from the album Everybody Wants that is Could Have Been Me."

Cheap Trick

"Now. Not so long ago it was Record Store Day where we all queue up outside in the chucking down rain. Sharing stories with people you've never met. Eating soggy sandwiches, just so you can be first in line to buy the square pink nine inch single by your favourite band. Well, here's a band that put a song out specially for Record Store Day and it's fantastic. This is Cheap Trick."

"And before that from the Bang, Zoom, Crazy, Hello sessions but not actually on the album. It was recorded specifically for Record Store Day. We heard Cheap Trick with a song called Arabesque."

George Harrison

"You may remember a few weeks back I mentioned that we were in Orlando, Florida and I was on my balcony having a bit of a Tramp Fest as I called it. Listening to Supertramp. Well the last week or so has seen me having a George Fest. I've been listening to a lot of George Harrison and what a fantastic musician he was. Some of his post Beatles work really is phenomenal. And that song that I just played there. I first heard as a kid recorded by Olivia Newton John. But that is the original version. George Harrison from his collection called What Is Life?."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Quebec City in Canada is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you god willing at the same time next week. All the way from Chicago in Illinois. The home of the blues."

"Until then I'm gonna leave ya with some classic American rock from 1973. Their debut album. This is Montrose and Space Station No. 5. Until next week see ya!."
