The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Well it was never gonna last, was it. But hey it was good while it did. We had a couple of weeks of great weather and then what happens. The festival season starts. You turn up at Download last weekend and it chucks it down with rain. Welcome everybody to a very dry Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. And I'm gonna dedicate this one to everybody that got drenched last week because you may have got wet but I'm sure that it felt good. This is Slade."

Ringo Starr

"Now another four piece band that would go on to release solo records. Albeit after their success. Were The Beatles and who'd have thought that the first one of them to have a big hit. Would have been this guy. This is Ringo Starr."

"And before that Ringo Starr with a little help from his friends. Notably George Harrison who produced and played on that particular song. The first post Beatles solo hit single Ringo Starr It Don't Come Easy."

Ian Hunter

"A phenomenal live version of that particular song there by Ian Hunter. Recorded live at The Roxy club on the Sunset Strip back in 1979 and released 1980 the double live album Welcome To The Club. The song originally featured on the Mott The Hoople album Mott 1973, it's called I Wish I Was Your Mother."

Styx

"We've toured with Styx many times and I have to say one of the highlights of their live show is that particular song because it actually really rocks very hard when they play it live. That is Styx there with a song called Miss America."

David Bowie

"As pure power intros go, they don't get much better than that particular song. It was played by Mick Ronson and it's from an album callee Aladdin Sane from 1973 by David Bowie."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time god willing."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with The Kinks. From the latter part of their career. An album called Word Of Mouth and it will be a pleasure to do it again with you next week as The Kinks do it again for us right now. Until next week see ya!."
