Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott hosted another edition of his weekly radio show last night on Planet Rock.

This week's show included songs by David Bowie, Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople. The show had an "nautical" theme to tie in with the Hysteria On The High Seas cruise (which unfortunately has not ended well).

Joe paid tribute to a number of music stars who have passed away in recent days.

The full playlist is shown below along with a few of Joe's on air quotes.

The show is available until next Saturday using the On Demand feature. It is also repeated on Tuesdays at 9pm.

The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Well this is a first. Welcome everyone to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock from international waters. We have just set sail from Miami and we're heading out towards the Caribbean on the HMS Leppard. Better known as the MSC Divina. Sixty minutes of quite nautical music coming up. Plus we're gonna tip our hats towards some of our lost comrades who've passed away over the last few days. It really has been a terrible month for loss in the rock and roll department. But let's start off in a celebratory mood shall we. As we sail off on the Sea Of Love with Def Leppard."

Def Leppard

"From the current Def Leppard album that is the Phil Collen penned Sea Of Love there."

Ian Hunter

"Let's hope it doesn't happen to anybody in the band or indeed the three and a half thousand people that have joined us on this little crusade. That is Ian Hunter with the title track of his album Man Overboard."

David Bowie/Mick Ronson

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show right here on Planet Rock coming to you this week from international waters as we head out towards the Caribbean. It's time for a little break and when we come back a further tribute to the late great David Bowie. See ya in a bit."

"I like to think in an alternative universe or a parallel universe that Mick Ronson actually sang that song to and for David Bowie. From his album Play Don't Worry that is Mick Ronson with a song called This Is For You. And before that from the album Blackstar we heard Lazarus by the late great David Bowie."

Dale Griffin/Mott The Hoople

"So we lost David Bowie last week. This week we lost even more including the very sadly Dale 'Buffin' Griffin from Mott The Hoople who finally lost his battle with Alzheimer's. Buffin was an integral part of Mott The Hoople. Also the band Mott and British Lions. I'm gonna play a couple of songs that he was involved in. Including this one which he actually wrote. By the band Mott from the album Drive On. This is Takes One To Know One."

"The magnificent last track from the All The Young Dudes album there. That is Sea Diver by Mott The Hoople. And before that from the album Drive On we heard Takes One To Know One featuring - both tracks that we just heard, the great Dale 'Buffin' Griffin on drums. Rest in peace friend."

Dallas Taylor

"It hasn't been a great week for drummers at all actually because not only did we lose Buffin this week. We also lost a gentleman called Dallas Taylor. Who's best known possibly for his work with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young on the album Deja Vu. So to celebrate his work. Here is Helpless."

NOTE - As mentioned by various news sites this week Dallas Taylor actually died on 18th January 2015 but the news stories got reposted with people who hadn't heard about it reposting them on Twitter/Facebook etc - (Joe will probably be informed of this before next week's show by someone).

Glen Frey/The Eagles

"And yet another one. My goodness they're going down like bowling pins. Glen Frey from The Eagles passed away this week as well. So to celebrate The Eagles and specifically Glen Frey, who sang lead vocal on that particular track, that is Heartache Tonight and before that Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young featuring Dallas Taylor on drums from the album Deja Vu we heard Helpless."

Show Outro

"And that my friends from half way to the Caribbean is about it for this week. Personally I cannot for this month to sail off into the distance. So that we can get back onto an even keel and people stop just passing away. Otherwise there's gonna be nobody left by the end of the year. So I say Bon Voyage to January and welcome the rest of the year. And who better to say Bon Voyage than this crowd. That's the name of the song. The album Propaganda. The band Sparks. Until next week at the same time. See ya!."
