Guitcast - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Adrenalized Book/Were The Band Nervous?

"None of them actually. They didn't even - I don't think they've - Vivian read it. He thought it was really good. So the rest of the guys you know Joe only reads magazines. He's not really a book freak. So I don't think he read all of it. So yeah they seemed pretty calm actually and you know I didn't throw anyone under the bus. Anyone actually I kind of kept it all pretty much above it really."

"I love that. That actually come to me when I was driving to Joe's studio and it was all covered in snow everywhere and I started humming that riff and then pulled over. Recorded it on my phone and then started singing the vocal. And I got back to the studio and said Viv play this. And we really wanted it to be a throwback to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. You know we wanted it to kind of have all of those elements and you know it didn't really sound like Def Leppard but it ended up sounding very much like Def Leppard. Just because of the fact that we were very kind of easy with it. It flowed. It actually really flowed well. So yeah no I like 'em all on there. It's a different one everyday. I like that. I like - Energized is cool. Yeah and then it'd be a different one you know - Man Enough's rocking. It's great."

"With this album we actually didn't do that at all. We just had it wide open and any influence could come in. We didn't care and I think that freedom just allowed it to be what it is. You know it's so sincere and that's really it. And I think that's why it turned out the way it did because it was - it had an integrity that we probably haven't had before."
