Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the fantastic Planet Rock. It is that time of night. It's that time of year isn't it?. It's almost Christmas. The lights are up. The trees are up. The night's are getting darker. It's getting cold. There's a great atmosphere around the place. I'm almost delirious with excitement. Just like this crowd. This is the Heavy Metal Kids."

The Heavy Metal Kids

"When I think about it that was one of the last things Gary Holton ever did with The Heavy Metal Kids because it came out after their last album. The album was Kitsch from 1976. And these days that standalone single as it was can be found as a bonus track on said album. That is The Heavy Metal Kids with Delirious."

Boomtown Rats

"OK so from the streets of London to the streets of Dublin. This is the Boomtown Rats."

"And before that the Boomtown Rats from their Back To Boomtown Classic Rats hits album we heard Mary Of The 4th Form."

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

"I saw them open for, I think it was Nils Lofgren, in '76/'77 at the Sheffield City Hall. I also saw them at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles in '83 and they were fantastic. They are Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers from the album Damn the Torpedoes. That is Don't Do Me Like That."

Budgie

"OK so from the streets of Dublin and the streets of Florida, which is where I believe Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers exploded out of, we head off to the valleys of Wales. This is Budgie."

"And before that we heard Budgie from the album Bandolier with I Can't See My Feelings."

Ian Hunter

"I'm a huge fan as you probably already know. I've said it before and no doubt I'll shall say it again but for a gentleman who is 77 years young this year. It's phenomenal that he makes this kind of music. It is absolutely inspiring and the album Fingers Crossed is a fantastic record if you haven't heard it yet. The guy Ian Hunter. The song we just heard, his tribute to David Bowie, a song called Dandy."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back we're going on the march with Queen."

Queen

"And before that we heard Queen from the undeniably brilliant Queen II album with The March Of The Black Queen."

Jethro Tull

"I've always found that Jethro Tull, for that is they we just heard, had a very unique sound but musically at least on that track it sounds kinda Zepplinesque. Which is kind of odd really because there was a bit of friction between those two bands back in the day. That is Jethro Tull from the album Stand Up with a song called Fat Man."

The Pink Floyd

"So from fat men and black queens to the downright eccentric. This as they were originally known is The Pink Floyd featuring Syd Barrett."

"And before that The Pink Floyd from the recently released Creation compilation with a Syd Barrett composition about a guy with a very strange hobby indeed. I believe pulling women's underwear off of washing lines. As you do. The song Arnold Layne."

Sparks

"Thank God It's Not Christmas as they say but lads, lads it is pretty much isn't it let's be honest. 1974 that album came out. They are Sparks. The album Kimono My House. The song Thank God It's Not Christmas."

The Dead Daisies

"Now here doing a wonderful job on an old Sensational Alex Harvey Band song is The Dead Daisies."

"And before that The Dead Daisies from the album Revolution with their take on the old Sensational Alex Harvey Band song Midnight Moses."

The Faces

"Ah rock and roll as it should be. Noisy and sweaty and dirty and raucous and just great fun. That is The Faces featuring Rod Stewart from their album Stray Singles And B Sides with a song called Pool Hall Richard."

Show Outro

"And that's about it for this week folks. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time."

"Until then I've gotta go and guess what. So do the Rolling Stones. After all this time they've finally gone and done a covers album. The album is called Blue And Lonesome and this is a song called I Gotta Go. Until next week see ya!."
