Def Leppard played a 2016 Summer Tour show last night in Evansville, IN with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the 11,000 capacity Ford Center.

The band's first time in Evansville since 12th June 2003 on the X/Ten world tour.

The sixth show the band have played in Evansville.

The first visit here took place in August 1981 at Mesker Music Theater on the High 'n' Dry tour as support to Ozzy Osbourne.

They returned as headliners in October 1987 for an In The Round show on the Hysteria tour at Roberts Stadium.

A second In The Round show was played in December 1992 on the Adrenalize tour.

The next show took place at Mesker Amphitheatre during the Euphoria tour in August 1999.

The last show here in June 2003 saw the band return to Roberts Stadium. A venue that has now closed.

Interestingly Joe mentioned a 1983 show during his speech but there is no record (yet found) of a show here on the Pyromania tour.

The same setlist was played once again to another near sold out and very loud and enthusiastic crowd.

Random Trivia - On the same evening as this show a swimmer from Evansville won a gold medal at the Rio Olympics - Lilly King won the 100m breaststroke.

Joe Elliott - Vivian Campbell/Armageddon It Intro

"Hey look who's here. (drumbeat) No, not you. You come later little one. No, this boy here. Look, this boy all the way from Northern Ireland to be here tonight. Well, via Los Angeles and a few other thousand places. But this is the boy who does indeed put the fast in Belfast ladies and gentleman. Can you make a lot of noise please for a very happy and healthy Vivian Campbell."

Joe Elliott - Rick Savage/Rock On Intro

"Thank you. Thank you very much. Let's have another look at you. You see this is why we like to come. I know it's been too long. But I do remember we were here many many years ago. I think we came here in 1983 on the Pyromania tour. That's what 33 years ago. We first came to the USA 36 years ago. Holy f**k. And because of this kind of situation we've got going on tonight. All these people out here. This is why we like to keep coming back you see."

"36 years is a long time and think back 39 to the summer of 1977. Who was alive in the summer of 1977?. Who wasn't alive?. Now look at that. That's like fifty-fifty. That's f**king great. That's great because that means there are new people coming through for new bands and old bands, it doesn't matter. But what it means is this thing that we love to call rock and roll has a living breathing heart and you guys are helping to keep it alive."

"And in that long distant summer of 1977 I met a 16 year old kid for the very first time. He came round to my Mum and Dad's house to have a look at my very large record collection. You've got a sick mind!. And we got talking and we realised that we'd got a lot of things in common. There was some great new bands coming through in the summer of '77. You'd got things like The Clash, the Pistols, The Ramones doing the new wave thing. On the other side of the coin other bands that really inspired us. Bands like Queen, AC/DC, U.F.O., Thin Lizzy. These bands were all happening and we got talking and we said to each other, in a roundabout way, what do you think about putting a band together just for a laugh. See what happens."

"Well, 39 years later. I can honestly say, with my hand on my heart, that that 16 year old kid is still my best mate. Ladies and gentleman Mr. Rick Savage."

Joe Elliott - Pre-Rock Of Ages Speech

"Thank you. Thank you very much. Wow. Have we had a good time tonight or what?. You guys at the back. How we doin' up there?. A long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll, right. We OK down here on the floor?. That's good to know."

"Well, as I said earlier, it's been a long road. 39 years since we started this thing off and we've been coming back to this country and thank god you guys are out there. Thank god you're here tonight. Bless you for coming. Thanks for having us. Of course if you've been around for as long as we have. Shit happens right. You all know if you've followed this band for a long time. We've had our, what they like to call, ups and downs. But we rise above. We take these challenges and we bring 'em on. And nobody epitomises that spirit more than this boy at the back here. Stand up Rick Allen!. And as always he will introduce this one for ya."

Joe Elliott - End Of Show Speech

"Evansille, Indiana. Thanks for having us. Thanks for coming. Thanks for being here. We'll see you next time. Goodnight!."

"Once again thank you so much. Been a real pleasure. Until next time, and there will be a next time!. Till then do us a big favour yeah. Don't forget us and we won't forget you. Goodnight!."
