Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad 1992.

Def Leppard released their classic Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad single 24 years ago on this day in 1992 in the USA.

The third single to be released from the Adrenalize album.

It was released on 4th August 1992 reaching Number 12 and spending 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Its UK release would follow at the end of the same month.

The highest charting single from the album in the USA after 'Let's Get Rocked' peaked at 15 and 'Make Love Like A Man' only peaked at 36.

The chart run of 20 weeks makes it one of only four singles to spend 20 or more weeks on the Billboard chart. The others being 'Two Steps Behind' (1993) and 'PSSOM', 'Love Bites' (both 1988).

In later years various band members have said this single was their highest selling in the USA in terms of physical copies sold.

The song was originally written by Phil Collen when he was in Australia (probably when working with B.B. Steal) and later added to by Mutt Lange.

It was originally called 'I've Never Wanted Something So Bad'.

It's another - I wouldn't call it a ballad like 'Tonight'. It's more of a power ballad in the mode of something like Purple Rain really. It's just a two chord loping verse thing. Big old chorus harmonies."
