The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Greetings everyone from a very muggy and hot and sweaty North Carolina. The Def Leppard tour has just rolled into town. The town is Raleigh. It is hot and sticky. It's not so sweet. Let's blow some of that mugginess shall we right here on Planet Rock with Deep Purple."

The Police

"Shaking up the style somewhat but still rocking your socks off. That is The Police there from the album Synchronicity with the song Synchronicity II."

Tyrannosaurus Rex/T. Rex

"If you're a fan of early T. Rex and you remember the fact that they broke through with things like Ride A White Swan and then Hot Love. And then of course the big one Get It On. The old label re-released some early T. Rex or even Tyrannosaurus Rex and lo and behold it charted. And that's one of the kind of elfin poem songs from Marc Bolan's back catalogue. A dinky little number called Debora."

Robert Plant

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock all the way from Raleigh in North Carolina this week. We're gonna take a little break and when we come back, we're going slow dancing with Robert Plant."

"And before that from his very first solo album Pictures At Eleven. We heard Robert Plant with a very Zep like Slow Dancer."

Mott The Hoople

"Not a song I would imagine gets a great deal of airplay and I've always been a bit of a fan. Even though it's one of their more bizarre songs because it's sung by Ian Hunter but it was actually written by Verden Allen. And one of the few songs, if not the only song, in their entire back catalogue that featured almost Tijuana trumpet playing. That is Mott The Hoople from the album Brain Capers back in 1972 with a song called Second Love."

Cheap Trick

"They've always been one of my favourite ever bands. They're just so consistently good. They are Cheap Trick and their latest album Bang Zoom Crazy Hello well worth a listen. The song we just heard from said album The Sun Never Sets."

Van Halen

"And before that we heard Van Halen from 1978 I believe it was. From their very imaginatively titled second album Van Halen II Somebody Get Me A Doctor."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Raleigh in North Carolina is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time from New Orleans in Louisiana."

"Until then though gonna leave you with this crowd. They are the Vagabonds of the western world. They are Thin Lizzy and this is Little Darling. Until next week see ya!."
