Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen was interviewed earlier this month by Minnesota radio and mentioned a new acoustic song.

Phil talked about the current live show, getting better at live performances, touring with Styx/Tesla, returning to St. Paul with Foreigner in October, Delta Deep, Vivian's current health, recording Adrenalize without Steve Clark, his new autobiography, the 2015 self titled studio album, his guitars and Delta Deep live shows.

Phil says there's an acoustic song on the album. Joe and Vivian had previously mentioned acoustic guitars being used on a song but Phil suggests one song could be all acoustic. This would be only their second original acoustic song after 'Two Steps Behind', not including instrumental B Sides like 'S.M.C.' or covers.

Voice Of Alexandria - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

New Def Leppard Album

"Well, it's called Def Leppard because we've never had an album called Def Leppard. And it represents us. It's us now and we're really excited about it. So you know one of probably, if not, the best recordings we've ever done or that you know we enjoyed the most. It was just amazing. So much fun to do."

Acoustic Song

"We didn't have to - we went in to record a single and came out with 12 songs like immediately. You know we actually couldn't stop writing. It was like something that's never happened to us before. So we said OK I guess we're doing an album. And that's really it really it just came out. I think it's the best thing we've done since Hysteria. It's really diverse. It goes from extreme loud hard rock. Like the loudest guitars we've ever done to really like Top 40 type sounds. All in one album. Very diverse and there's an acoustic song on there. It's just - it's really cool and you know and again I've had a couple of people saying that's some of the best guitar solos I've done that they've ever heard on a Def Leppard album. So that's kind of cool."
