Def Leppard bassist Rick Savage has hinted that he may be about to record his own solo music.

Sav was speaking to journalist Mick Wall in one of the lengthy new band member interviews featured in the Def Leppard album Classic Rock Fanpack magazine.

The interview was conducted via phone on 5th September during the current 2015 world tour.

Mick asked him about his lack of work outside the band. In response he said the following which you can read below.

Previously Sav sang backing vocals on a B Side called 'For Just A Day' by the Irish band No Sweat in 1990.

To date his only solo guest appearance outside of Def Leppard.

The only other comparable thing is playing bass on the song 'When Saturday Comes' which was originally only available on the movie soundtrack. Later featured as a 'Slang' era B Side and obviously a Joe Elliott solo project.

Classic Rock Fanpack - Rick Savage Interview Quotes

No outside projects for you?

"I haven't been in the past. Not to come across as all mysterious but all I'll say is: watch this space. I'm getting to the point where, for me personally, it would be interesting to do something outside the band. I've got something in mind. I don't think you can really call it a side project. The rest of the band don't even know about it. In fact, nobody knows anything about it. It's something - there's been a few circles within windmills of my head."

"Mainly I look at the other guys and think: where the fuck have you found the time? Or the energy?. When I'm off the road or not in the studio I'm with my family, or trying to write a song. And the songs I do write are purely with Def Leppard in mind. Or I'm actually demoing them. No word of a lie, we took a year off in 2009 or 2010. It took me that whole year to write Kings Of The World that went on the Mirrorball album. It took me that long to get it how I wanted it to be."
