Muse 2015.
Muse Drones

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott talked to That Metal Show in February and talked about Mutt Lange producing the new Muse album Drones.

Joe talked about his musical inspirations, his first concert, strange fan requests, Muse being produced by Mutt Lange, Pete Willis and the 2015 studio album.

Joe was of course speaking in January before any new Muse music was released. So far two songs 'Psycho' and 'Dead Inside' have been released with the album scheduled for June.

Robert John 'Mutt' Lange co-produced the album with the band at The Warehouse studio in Vancouver, Canada.

Recording of their seventh studio album started in October 2014 and was finished in January. Its release was announced earlier tonight on the band's website.

The band have been posting teasers on Instagram with one of these featuring Mutt talking in the studio.

The album is released on 8th June in the UK.

That Metal Show - Joe Elliott Interview Quotes

Mutt Lange Producing Muse Album Drones

"Yeah I was aware of it and I'm actually quite shocked because Muse don't come across to me as somebody that would care to work with somebody like Mutt because Muse are already in arenas. So their records sell by the trillions. I don't see whether - it's sounds a bit of an odd mix to me - the marriage is a bit - but I haven't, in fairness, I haven't seen Mutt for many, many years. Spoke to him a couple of times. You know the last record that I was aware of that he did was Nickelback and I think he did a Maroon 5 album."

"It'll be interesting because the last Muse record was pretty much them putting their heart on their sleeve. I mean in fairness I out it on and went wow, they're just taking Queen on. They're just doing Queen. So maybe what Mutt's gonna do is harness some of that but Mutt's big thing is vocals and Matt Bellamy's voice is so unique. I don't see where Mutt can take it anywhere that it's not already gone and that's his big thing and I just don't see them doing harmonies like we do. I just don't think they're gonna - so I don't know it's a weird one. I really hope it works because in many respects it's a match made in heaven if it works. But if it doesn't, I don't know weird one."
