Tim Sheehan - Vivian Campbell Interview Quotes

2015 Studio Album

"The new album. I gotta say in the 23 years I've been with the band this is the best record we've made. It really is. That's the great news. The bad news is I actually didn't have an awful lot to do with it. So I think they're probably better off without me. And the next time the band make a record I'll take a vacation. Yeah I was dealing with some health issues during this so I kinda missed the whole middle part of the recording process. We did it in three instalments over the last year. We started last February in Dublin for about five weeks. And we set up live in the studio and recorded because we wanted to capture the rock energy of the band. And that was the best way to do it and we hadn't actually recorded live in the studio since 1996 on the Slang album. So we captured that. The first several songs have the rock vibe going on. And then it became more scratching the chin and thinking OK well what kind of songs do we need now. And then we're kind more writing to order and getting into the more studio heavy production tracks."

"The whole middle section I missed because I was doing chemotherapy. And then the end session was this past January in Dublin and that's when things really started to come together and the final finishing touches were put on the record. And it really - it sounds great. It's a very strong record. It's a very diverse record. As I mentioned it has rock elements but it also has the other elements of Def Leppard's career. Very production heavy songs. Great vocals and great hooks. So we're well pleased with that you know."

Release Date?

"And as to when it's gonna be released. I don't know. It's definitely coming out in 2015 but more than likely the second half of the year. So I don't know if we'll play anything off the record for this tour. Certainly by the time it goes to radio. And radio starts playing the lead track. We'll have to be playing it in our live show. And we'll prepare for that but I don't really know exactly when that's gonna be."
