Gloria Johnson - Joe Elliott Interview Quotes

Down 'n' Outz Third Album

"But maybe on the third record, which we are gonna do. And the third album, again more exciting for us, is we're actually writing it ourselves. We've done you know - we set about to do the covers purely because it was the only way to make an album quickly with these guys is to do what we were doing. Which was, you know, the songs that we did opening for Mott. And that carry that on for one more record. Now we've kind of got that out of our system and it's time to sit down and write some songs of that nature. So it'll be very different to Def Leppard for sure."

The Art Of McCartney

"Well we were asked, the guy that put the album together, a guy called Ralph Sall, he contacted us via our management. Saying like you know would you be interested in contributing to this record. And first thing we kind of said was like yeah if we can do Helen Wheels. And he kind of looked on the list and said yep nobody's took that one yet. And that's the big thing with this record, sometimes you can get left with the dregs. And if there's such a thing as dregs in a Paul McCartney tribute, which there aren't. But we've done other projects in the past or we've been offered other projects in the past where we've actually said no because all the songs that we'd have wanted to do had already gone because they didn't ask us first. And that's always a bit of a political issue with these things. But this one fell together very nicely because it's a McCartney record and you've got such high grade quality artists involved. Billy Joel, Roger Daltrey, Heart, Alice Cooper, Brian Wilson. It's a fantastic list of folk."

"It was an absolute honour to be asked in the first place to do it. But doubly for me because not only did Def Leppard do Helen Wheels. But I did Hi Hi Hi with Paul's band which was fantastic for me. I mean I was really, really chuffed. I've met the guys over the years and they're really nice guys. So I dare say they had something to do with it but when I was offered the opportunity I couldn't say no."

2015 Studio Album

"And we're also recording our new album at the moment as well so I've got to dip my toe back into that. In the next couple of weeks. So hopefully we'll have a Def Leppard - Def Leppard will have a new album out for next Spring - with a bit of luck and then we're back out again on the road."
