Gary Allen - Vivian Campbell Interview Quotes

2015 Studio Album

"We actually literally just finished the new album. We started working on it about a year ago. We've done it over three instalments of several weeks at a time and we recorded in Dublin. I gotta say first and foremost, this is - in the 23 years I've been with Def Leppard this is the best record that the band's made. So we're really excited about that. It covers all the bases. It's got the rock element and it's got all the other different styles that Def Leppard has done. So it's unmistakably Def Leppard. But very strong but yet very diverse."

Release Date?

"But as to when it's gonna be released. It's not quite been finished in time to be of real benefit for this American summer tour. So it will be probably the second half of the year before it's released. So it is possible that once the lead track goes to radio - whenever that is. Obviously if it's on radio we're gonna start playing it. So we're gonna rehearse whatever that lead track is. I think kind of still to be determined what it's gonna be and = so it's possible by late August we might be playing it. Or maybe not. I really honestly don't know. But it is a great, great record and we're very proud of it. The irony is for me I've actually had very little to do with this record. So unfortunately that speaks volumes, I think they're better off without my interference you know. I actually was dealing with a lot of medical stuff the last couple of years. So I missed a whole big chunk of the recording process on this. I was there at the start and I was there at the end and I missed the middle bit. But it's a great, great record and we're very, very proud of it and I can't wait for it to be out."

2015 Tour/2016 Plans

"It's now until the end of the year actually. After America we're supposedly - I haven't seen the dates yet - but we're trying to schedule Japan, Australia, New Zealand. I know we have a tour in the UK coming up in December. And then actually even into early next year there's talk about doing a couple of things in January and February."
