Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott paid tribute to former Free bassist Andy Fraser on his radio show last night following his death earlier this week.

Joe played two Free tracks during his show and also the 2006 Def Leppard cover of 'Little Bit Of Love' in tribute to Andy.

He had been due to perform with 'Spike's Free House' at the Sweden Rock festival on 4th June. A band formed by Spike from The Quireboys.

As mentioned by Joe on his show in January, Andy and Free drummer Simon Kirke had both played on Spike's solo album '100% Frankie Miller'. They were due to be part of his touring band and this was the first scheduled performance.

The final line up for the 4th June show was announced recently with Lep headlining and Slash and Toto also on the bill.

The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Free/Andy Fraser

"And very sadly this week we also lost the incredible talents of one Mr. Andy Fraser. A musician who influenced the likes of people like Glenn Hughes and one Mr. Rick Savage actually. He was a terrific songwriter. He started out his career with John Mayall's Blues Breakers before forming Free at the very tender age of fifteen."

"He went on to form a band called Sharks with Chris Spedding. But I think he'll be mostly remembered for his work with Free. Here's a couple of songs back to back that really show off his talents. This one very appropriately Oh, I Wept."

"I have to confess all these years later when I heard Paul Kossoff's guitar fade off and Andy Fraser's bass takes over playing that solo, I still get goose bumps. Amazing stuff. From the album Free Live that is of course Free with Mr Big and before that from the album Fire And Water we heard Oh, I Wept."

But it doesn't end there!. Nine years ago on the covers album YEAH!, Def Leppard did this."
