98.7 The Gater - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

2015 Studio Album

"Well I mean it's kind of important for us but we just didn't want to rush it. We didn't want to blow it right at the last minute. So it's actually right. So we're just finishing it off now. I mean we've done this before with the Hysteria album we were like it'll be ready next year. Be ready next year and we kept saying that every year and it wasn't quite ready so it'll probably come out while we're on tour."

"We wanted to get it for April but it just didn't happen so we're still working on it actually. Well Joe is. Yeah and we gotta mix it as well. I literally just got back from Dublin a couple of days ago."

"I'm really excited. I'm very excited about this new album. You know we've - it's the best thing I think we've done in like 20 years. So it's really exciting. You know Viv's back on form. He was just out there singing with me and playing guitar. Yeah he's you know got over the cancer thing. He got the all clear from the doctor. So everything's cool no worries."

"And the stuff is so exciting. You know we done this album for us and it wasn't for some record executive. It actually wasn't even for the fans. It was actually done for us and I think that that's a really big difference. You know it's why you start in the first place. Instead of trying to please everyone else, you actually please yourself. And that's really one of the reasons we're all so excited about this. It's so varied I mean some of the rock songs are out and out smack you on the face and the melodies and we've gone overboard on the vocals and the guitars. It's just crazy so we're loving it."

"Everyone. It was a different thing. We approached it - we thought we was gonna do a single or an EP or something and we came out of the first session with 12 songs. So - which never happens with us. So when you don't over think and over worry about it great things happen. So it's all about inspiration and just the vibe of it and I think all the songs benefited from it. And everyone's kind of approach to it was different based on that really."

"We actually got 15 in the end. So they'll probably be 14 on the album. So yeah no we're thrilled."
