Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen was interviewed yesterday by 96.9 97 Rock in Buffalo, NY and commented on the 2015 tour/studio album.

Phil talked about the 2015 US Tour with Styx/Tesla, his health/giving up drinking, his favourite song to play live (Rocket), the Delta Deep album, bassist Robert Deleo of Delta Deep/Stone Temple Pilots, Vivian's health, the 2015 studio album and who would he pay to see in concert - dead or alive.

Phil repeats that the album isn't ready yet and will come out during the tour. For anyone wondering about the US tour poster artwork being connected to an album sleeve. Phil states they haven't yet done any album artwork.

PYX 106 - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

2015 Support Acts

"It's down to who's available. That's the thing you know and it's actually becoming less and less. That pool is shrinking. It's like there's less and less bands that are able to tour. So yeah it's kind of cool that we actually got both those guys because we toured with them both extensively in the past. You know Tesla opened for us on the Hysteria tour which was what 27 years ago or something like that - crazy."

Playing Rocket Live

"I always like playing Rocket because it's kind of like an anthem, We wrote it about all the influences we had growing up. It's the you know stereotypical Def Leppard song. You know it's got the big drums, the huge guitars. It's a massive singing anthem and what it's about. It's great so that's the one I'd say."

Vivian's Health - Is he touring?/New Studio Album

"He certainly is. He's great. I was with him last week actually - or the week before we were in Dublin just finishing off the new Def Leppard album. Which comes out while we're on tour. You know we haven't quite finished it yet. So we thought we'd get it ready for the tour but you know we didn't. We didn't wanna rush it and just throw it out. We wanted - quality over quantity. So it'll be coming out."

Released during the tour?

"Yeah. It'll have to because we haven't even done the sleeve yet. So you know there you go. And it's gotta be you know - we've got the odd little thing we've gotta do and mastering and all of that good old stuff. The sleeve. So yeah that takes a little while."
