The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Well can you smell the gasoline?. Can you hear the sound of those throbbing bike engines in the background?. About 60,000 of them. There's Harley's. There's Indian's. There's Triumph's. There's all sorts of bikes out there. We are in Sturgis, South Dakota for one of the biggest biker fests for the whole of the summer in the USA. There's a hundred thousand people camping. Just thousands and thousands of amazing bikes. And the great thing about this place is they actually site on their bikes in front of the stage. So instead of clapping at the end of the song, they rev their engines. It's the most bizarre thing you'll ever see or ever hear. Evening everyone this is the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. As I just said coming to you this week from Sturgis in South Dakota. I was gonna start the show with something pretty obvious like Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild as a great classic biker anthem. Here's one maybe for the new generation. This is Little Steven And The Disciples Of Soul."

Marc Bolan And Cilla Black

"Music fans of a certain age like myself will be less shocked than most at the fact that I managed to work Cilla Black into this week's show. She sadly passed away a few days ago. But let's not forget she was a legend in the Sixties. She had some fantastic hit singles. She was discovered by Brian Epstein. She was the cloak room attendant at the Cavern when the Beatles were doing a residency so she was very tight with the Fab Four. And in 1971 when she had her own show on TV. She had the bravado I suppose you might wanna call it to bring on T. Rex and do a duet with Marc Bolan on a song from his Electric Warrior album from 1971 I think it was. A song called Life's A Gas. And that is indeed the version from The Cilla Black Show featuring Cilla and Marc Bolan duetting together."

Delta Deep

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock all the way from Sturgis in South Dakota where it's getting louder by the minute out there. I will be back with you in a couple of minutes after a little break with a track featuring myself on somebody else's record. How dare I! See you in a bit."

"And before that Phil Collen's side project Delta Deep featuring yours truly on lead vocals. Which did actually get the thumbs up from DC [David Coverdale]. So that made me very happy indeed. Of course that's our, if you like, version of the old Deep Purple classic Mistreated."

Show Outro

"And that my friends from Sturgis in South Dakota is about it for this week. Gonna put my ear plugs back in now because it's getting louder and louder out there."

"I shall be back with you next week at the same time from Des Moines in Iowa. So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. This is another biker anthem of sorts. From the days of Eric Bell. This is Thin Lizzy from the album Vagabonds of the Western World with a rocking little tune called Little Darling. Until next week see ya!."
