The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Bonsoir Monsieur et Madmoiselle. Comme en ca va? Oh tres bien!. And that's about as good as it gets my friends. I am speaking French because I am in Montreal, Canada. Good evening everyone and welcome it's the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. We're here for a couple of days rehearsing. In fact we're just about wrapping up rehearsals. Got a TV spot to perform tonight and then we head off to the West Coast of Canada. About an hour north of Vancouver where the tour starts on the 15th of April in a place called Penticton - I've never been I'll let you know what it's like next week but it is sold out so it should be a lot of fun."

"Montreal though where we shall be playing in a couple of weeks time and where we've been based for a while is on of the most amazing places. Great audiences here but they mostly speak French even though they have our Queen's head on their money. So on that contentious little note here is the national anthem."

The Quireboys/Down 'n' Outz

"You may remember earlier in the show I mentioned I was gonna play the parent song to Ian Hunter's Morons. As you can probably tell there is a bit of similarity there but a good one it is. That is the Down 'n' Outz version however of the song Marionette which originally featured on Mott The Hoople's The Hoople album back in 1974. it is from the Down 'n' Outz The Further Adventures Of... And before that brand new Quireboys from the album St Cecilia And The Gypsy Souls recorded in such a baron far off place in Scandinavia that it makes fortitude look like Time's Square. We heard a great song Gracie B."

Show Outro

"Something from Canada there that's a little bit more recent than most things. That's Arcade Fire from the album The Suburbs from a couple of years back with a song called Ready To Start and before that from the live album All The World's A Stage which came out in 1976 we heard Rush with the magnificent Bastille Day."

"And that just about wraps up this weeks show folks, been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time. Only from Vancouver and let's not forget what's coming up pretty soon. Record Store Day where we celebrate all things vinyl. There is the first ever Down 'n' Outz EP. Only 500 of them and it does feature the song I played earlier on tonight Marionette. But in celebration of Record Store Day I'm gonna finish this weeks show with a track from the first album I ever bought. So this song would've been the first song I ever played on a twelve inch vinyl record for it was track one side one. It is Rod Stewart and Every Picture Tells A Story. Until next week see ya!."
