The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome. It is the Joe Elliott show right here on the very wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week from the home of Planet Rock. Yes, I'm in London, England because Def Leppard are the pre game entertainment for tomorrow's massive NFL game at Wembley Stadium between the Oakland Raiders and the Miami Dolphins. It is tinged with a certain amount of sadness though because this will be the first gig that we've done in 22 years without Vivian Campbell who is currently at home preparing for stem cell surgery. To cure him hopefully permanently of this nasty disease that he has called cancer. However with his blessing we move on and we shall be there tomorrow night rocking and rolling just like we were when we recorded this particular beauty."

Vivian Campbell 1992/Damon Hill

"Quite ironic really that Vivian won't be with us tomorrow because save for a little warm up show in Dublin, Ireland. Wembley Stadium was the venue for the first ever gig that Vivian played with Def Leppard when we were part of the Freddie Mercury tribute show back in April of 1992. And that what we just heard there featured of course Vivian Campbell from the Euphoria album back in 1999. It also featured a guitar solo by the way. The ride out solo on that song was performed by ex-Formula One racing driver Damon Hill. He's a good friend of mine lives about two doors down from Bono. Popped up one night and said I'd love to play on the record and we all looked at each other and said alright then let's see what you've got. And there he is. He didn't come in any kind of big flash motor though. He turned up on a bicycle."

Show Outro

"Produced by Mott The Hoople legends Pete Overend Watts and Dale Buffin Griffin that is Hanoi Rocks from their 1984 classic album Two Steps From The Move with Cutting Corners. And before that from the album Unmasked. Even though I do believe they were still wearing the make up at the time. We heard KISS with that classic question Is That You?. Well that is me for this week folks. I shall be back with you Until next at the same time. Until then I'm off to go get ready for Wembley Stadium tomorrow night. It should be a huge moment for the band. And what goes hand in hand with a classic American sport? Nothing more than some classic American junk food. So until next week I'm gonna leave you with this beauty from In Through The Outdoor. This is Led Zeppelin and Hot Dog. Until next week see ya!."
