Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott and his Down 'n' Outz band played the first date of their UK tour last night in Bristol, England with a 16 song set played.
They opened the 10 date tour at the 400 capacity Bierkeller after four days of rehearsals at nearby Factory Studios.
This show was the opening night of the band's first ever full length headline tour and first time in Bristol. Between 2009 and April 2011 the band had played select dates, festivals and a support tour with Paul Rodgers.
16 songs were played in all during the show with Joe still battling the Flu he mentioned on last week's radio show. Reports suggest he was struggling vocally during the show because of this but managed to get through it. The minimal stage setup included a backdrop featuring the current album artwork.
Five songs from the second album were played for the very first time - 'Drivin' Sister', 'Sea Diver', 'The Journey', 'Crash Street Kidds' and 'Violence'. The other three from this album were already debuted during the 2011 Paul Rodgers tour.
The band feature Joe on lead vocals/keyboards, Paul Guerin (guitars), Guy Griffin (guitars), Phil Martini (drums), Keith Weir (piano/keyboards) and new bassist Share Ross. Joe last played in Bristol with Def Leppard on 22nd October 2003 during the X/Ten tour.
