Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen has been interviewed today by News 12 New Jersey TV about his Wentworth Gallery art exhibition with video, photos and a transcript available.
Rick will be making a personal appearance at the gallery in Short Hills, NJ tomorrow between 5 and 6 pm where his new art collection titled "Rick Allen: Angels and Icons." is currently on display.
Rick's first collection called Electric Hand Rhythm and Change was released in April 2012. This was followed in September 2013 with the "Rock-On-Canvas" collection.

"It was obviously an awful time you know losing my arm, especially being a drummer. But honestly it's really become a blessing. It's something that I've been able to share with others. Especially some of our wounded warriors and just being able to share my life experience and inspire others. What a great deal. You know it's really become something very special and it's something that's very healing to myself as well. Not only to the men and women that I work with but to me."

"Long story. I got together with a company called Scene Four and that was more sort of photographic. More you know based around that. But then I discovered Wentworth Gallery and they encouraged me to start painting and I've been doing all these one-off pieces. And the thing is I'll go in there and it's like it feels like ten minutes and three hours later I come out and you know I come up with this incredible artwork. When you completely immerse yourself and you're in the moment then you know it's that's the gift."
Angels And Icons
"Well obviously you know the hand. It's been used a lot and the flags have been used a lot. But to me they mean something really really - it's something very special. You know every single piece tells a story. And obviously this poor old hand of mine has you know for more than half of my life now. This is it, you know this has been doing everything I do whether it's playing drums or you know being at home with the kids or whatever I do or the artwork it's - this is it."
"it's just another way to express myself. Music, art in all its forms it's just another way to express myself. So it's - again it's a huge gift. A huge blessing."
