1987 UK Tour Programme
Def Leppard began their 14 month 'Hysteria' world tour 27 years ago on this day in 1987 in Dublin, Ireland.
The first show took place at the SFX Hall in Dublin, Ireland and was the start of a 17 date sold-out UK and Irish tour. It came hot on the heels of their first ever Top 10 hit single, 'Animal', and first Number One album, 'Hysteria'.
The band played a lengthy set which included the rarely played 'Billy's Got A Gun' and 'Don't Shoot Shotgun' - played for the very first time. The show mainly consisted of tracks from the 'Pyromania', 'Hysteria' and 'High 'n' Dry' albums. New single 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' was released near the end of the tour and became the second hit single in the UK.
Well over 200 shows would be played on the tour which ended in Tacoma, WA, USA on 27th October 1988. Sadly this would be the last of only two world tours featuring the classic line up of Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Rick Allen, Phil Collen and Steve Clark.
