Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell's side band Last In Line have recorded four songs for their studio album to help them secure a record deal.

Vivian posted updates about the recording which was done in the last week at a studio in Los Angeles. He talked the recording in an interview last week and posted about the recording on facebook along with in studio photos (featuring his dog Stuart - bark-ground vocals?...). The session was produced by ex-Dokken bass player Jeff Pilson who toured with Lep in 1999.

The band features Vivian on guitars alongside fellow original DIO band members Vinny Appice, Jimmy Bain, Claude Schnell and new singer Andrew Freeman. They last recorded new material together with Ronnie James Dio in 1985 for the 'Sacred Heart' album.

They played their last show on 20th October 2013 in Tokyo, Japan at the Loud Park 13 festival.

Vivian Campbell - 21st April Interview Quote

"We have four days in the studio just to cut some initial - we're actually cutting four songs to help us secure a record deal. These four songs will make it on the record. But they're only the first four so we were hoping that - I would hope to have it done this year for sure and probably released by the end of the year. I mean that's my personal target. But we need to cut these first four songs to actually secure the deal."

"I did my first guitar solo today and afterwards we did a quick rough mix. I wish I could play this for you, because talking about it just doesn't convey how magical it's sounding. Jimmy and Vinny are as amazingly mind-blowing as they've always been, and Andrew has really stepped up and taken this to the level we felt it could go to. We're being produced by Jeff Pilson and the chemistry is undeniable; Jeff's a great rock producer and the vibe is translating into some seriously amazing rock music. Enough rant. Viv."

"Today was the first day of cutting tracks for new Last In Line music. It's sounding mighty! Viv."
